    Agreed. this is a natural complement to the encode function.

    By setting your scroll bars to be always shown in your MacOS general settings, you are able to scroll horizontally in the text import wizard.

    We will prioritize this issue accordingly with other issues based on the votes and interest that we see here.

    5 years later and this bug is still not fixed. Embarrassing for Microsoft and an ongoing problem for customers.

    If the default import in the wizard wasn't "General" but "Text" then this wouldn't be so much of an issue, as the formats could be fixed afterwards: every time I import data which includes text such as "Sept9" or "March1" (which are *not* dates, but gene names) they get converted to dates and I manually have to replace them.

    Secondly, allowing the columns in the wizard to be selected by moving the cursor keys rather than the mouse/scroll bar would enable this to be worked round for everyone, not just Mac users.
