    when I'm told my document has links to other files, please tell me where and what (cell formulae, charts, named ranges, pivot sources,... ...any others?)

    finally I've found out why my group of Sparklines keeps reverting its named range source to an absolute reference

    and I've sorta worked out a fudge to get round it (that suits my needs anyway):
    define your range without the $s to fix the rows
    define one Sparkline with this as its source
    drag it down for as long as you need

    looking at the data range for this new group shows it recorded as:
    rMyRange,rMyRange,rMyRange...
