This must be the ultimate 'no brainer' and one of the easiest to implement! Come on Microsoft, surely the Excel can simply 'remember' the last user selection for Look In or, better still, allow the user to set a default.
At the very least, please change the default Look In: option to 'Values'.
As mentioned elsewhere, this is an old, old issue. A small one admittedly but intensely annoying because it is so unnecessary!

YES! Please keep the freeze panes settings for each tab regardless of how many windows are open.
I have to continually re-freeze panes and it's becoming a real nuisance, especially when building formulas.

Please fix this Microsoft!
If a file is a CSV let Excel open it as a CSV, everytime, regardless of the contents of the file. Or at the very least, give the user an option to open CSV or SYLK, not simply an error message.
As stated elsewhere, many applications export CSVs where the first characters are "ID".
Please, this should be a no-brainer!
