                Can you post a link to discussion of the error and repro steps? I'm just another user, but I use these regularly and was not aware there is an issue. You specifically call out 'unattended', so are there dialogues that are popping up when they shouldn't?

                I suspect that providing more information will make it more likely that the MS folks who manage this forum will discuss/consider your suggestion

                          Daniel, try this; as long as you don't click precisely on the lines (which selects them), it works ok and doesn't interfere with cell formatting. I think it would be annoying to have it active all the time, if I were going to use this I'd probably add a button on the ribbon (connected to a VBA snippet) to turn the functionality on/off.

                          Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)

                          'identify the used range for the active worksheet
                          'no sense in making the line indicator wider/taller than necessary
                          On Error Resume Next
                          'get the last row
                          LastRow = ActiveSheet.Cells.Find(What:="*", After:=ActiveSheet.Range("A1"), _

                                Not a replacement of this suggestion, but perhaps an addition- today graphics are limited to insert symbol, which is not a user-friendly experience trying to go through the different fonts and comparing options, especially if similar options show up in different places/fonts. It would be great if the symbol library was expanded, if users could add custom symbols, and the interface was set up to allow a smoother user experience

                                    While it is not the same method as in Word, you can create a helper cell/column or build the function into whatever formula is filling the cell, using =UPPER() =LOWER() and =PROPER() to change the case

                                          Thanks for the post Charles, and for the in person conversation at the latest MVP conference. We definitely understand the ask and will keep our eye on it – it looks like it’s moving up the vote charts pretty quickly. As always, keep upvoting the things you are about most.

                                          Best,
                                          John [MS XL]

                                            Thanks for the feedback! We’re seeing a number of different posts about lookup functions – we’ll be taking a close look at this area and thinking it through. We’ll prioritize the asks according to votes along with other requests on the site. So I encourage people to keep voting if it’s something they really want to see the priority raised on.
