This is an interesting idea. We’ll consider it during our next round of planning for a future release. In the meantime, please continue to vote on this idea.

    Thanks,

Today, this can be done via a VBA macro. However, we can definitely see the value in doing this through the UI. We’ll consider this in our future planning.

We’ll be posting to the Excel UserVoice home page, the features which we’ll be implementing in the near future. To be clear though, we are focusing on features which have the highest customer interest which typically have hundreds of votes.

    Thanks,
    Scott [MSFT]

Thank you for taking your time to suggest and vote for this idea. We do think that this suggestion has merit but we don’t think that we’ll be able to devote time to it in the near future. We’ll continue tracking votes for it.

Thanks for the suggestion Malcom. We’ll keep an eye on this – we’ll be more deeply investigating things with more votes, so people should up vote this if they like it. I’d also encourage people to chime in on the comments for this one with any specific asks for particular cases/operations they care about more than others.

    Cheers,
    John [MS XL]

Thanks for all your support of this request. We are taking a close look at this along with the related requests about maintaining leading zeros when entering values in cells, and to stop changing values to scientific notation.

We know these are important issues, so thanks for all the comments and votes.

Thank you for your suggestion! While there are currently no plans for changing the default behavior, you can modify your settings to not plot null values in your chart. You can do this by navigating to the Chart Design ribbon and opening the Select Data dialogue. From there, select “Hidden and Empty Cells” and then choose to show empty cells as gaps.

    Thank you again,
    Auston [MSFT]

Thanks for supporting this request. We are looking at this along with some other potential improvements to filters that have been requested on this site, such as adding a button to invert the selected values in the filter list.

We know these are important issues, so thanks for all the comments and votes.

This is a great suggestion, but we’re marking it “Not at this time”, because there are many dialogs in Excel and we don’t have a plan to address all of them at one time. If there are specific dialogs you want improved, please vote for specific suggestions about those, or leave comments here. We’ll keep tracking the votes on this one.

There is some good news. We’re working on making the Conditional Formatting dialogs resizable in Excel for Windows.

    Here’s more about that –
