Personally, I am not optimistic as to whether it will ever be introduced.

Considering all threads on both stackoverflow and answers.microsoft and all posts here, as well as the fact that there are no 'fully featured' regex add-ons, I guess regex support within Excel probably is too complicated...??

FWIW - personally, when a regex match/replace is required, I copy/paste the column into a text editor, like EditPadPro, perform the action there and copy-paste it back into Excel. This may not work correctely in case of filtered data though. Nothing more than a simple workaround.

    YES please!
For example a find-and-replace with preview based on regex.
    It would be great.
I know of only 1 RegEx Find/Replace (Codedown) add-in, but there is no preview, which I believe is a little tricky.

I have spent an awful lot of time to figure out how to highlight columns/rows of active cells.

Most solutions rely on the use of VBA, requiring some skill and is far from user friendly.
Have tried out quite a few, but in my case Excel loads a personal.xlsb file and I could not get the VBA solutions working. I gave up.

I believe an option to highlight columns and/or rows is really a basic thing and almost a 'must' when working on large sheets.
There are very few add-ins (RowLiner, Kutools and FollowCellPointer), whereas a simple Google search on 'excel highlight row active cell' will show there is a high demand for this feature.

Probably it shouldn't be too complicated for the Microsoft developers to introduce.
