Good news! We’ve started working on this suggestion, and we’re currently testing the improved scrolling experience in our lab. It will allow you to stop partway through the row or column. The sheet will no longer need to snap to the top and left edge of the cells. Since scrolling is such a fundamental and highly used action in Excel, it may take a while to get it right. We hope to have it ready within a few months, but can’t provide an exact target date just yet. Thanks again for all your support and patience for this long awaited improvement.

We’ll post an update here when we start rolling it out for you to try. It will be made available to Office Insiders first. Here’s how you can join – https://insider.office.com/en-us/join/windows.

    Thanks – Steve [Microsoft Excel]

Wasted another hour trying to work out whether Microsoft had implemented this yet.

Do people at Microsoft ever do any work? All your products are rotting!

Visual Studio is a buggy mess, and you guys can't even do a simple mod to Excel in under about 10 years.

Seriously, for the most valuable company in the World, you really ought to spend a bit of your profit on maintaining your products.

This got me again today. Had to open a CSV tracelog from Microsoft Azure. One of the cells had a load of data in it, so I set it to wrap text. However the cell was very wide and I couldn't get at the right most header edge to expand the column because it kept snapping back into place.

C'mon guys, this is really poor functionality for what is the world's defacto standard in spreadsheet software. Spare a few dollars from the revenue to get this one fixed please.

And this stupid problem got me again today! Had to open a trace log from Microsoft Azure blob storage (CSV file). Some of the cells contained lots of information which made it almost impossible to view the data. It's really useless when you have to copy data from Excel into NotePad just to be able to read it. Totally wasting my time.

This is a really horrible problem in Excel that could easily be fixed. C'mon Microsoft why not use your 30,000+ developers to give us a simple big fix - just this once?
