This would actually be a part of horizontal alignment, not the merge drop-down, but yes I would like this more accessible. There doesn't even seem to be a way to add it to quick access.

I agree with Erik, this wouldn't be necessary if the find and replace window behaved consistently when CTRL-F or CRTL-H is hit. If the window is closed, it opens with the previous search term highlighted so it can easily be replaced. If it is already open, nothing happens.

SOMETHING needs to change, this has been driving me crazy for years.

I would tend to agree with Erik Berger, Pressing control+f when the find window is open should have the same effect as pressing control+f when the find window is NOT open... IE, the find window should become active and the text inside the search term box should be selected so that the user can easily start typing to replace the text.

Great suggestion, thanks David! And thanks to other people who took the time to clarify/comment on this one. There’s definitely room to tighten this experience up in a number of places. We’re getting a lot of traffic on the site, so please keep voting for the things you care about most to help us do a great job of prioritizing.

    Best,
    John [MS XL]

Thanks for supporting this feature. We won’t be able to in the near future, but we understand that it would be a nice improvement. Even though it seems like a straightforward idea, it is quite complex since named ranges can be dynamic, meaning that the range is calculated when the workbook is calculated.

We’ll continue tracking votes for this suggestion.

I think this would be better described as "Pin Worksheet", but I agree. My workbooks often have a summary "top sheet" worksheet that I'd like to always be able to easily get to while I'm scrolling through many supporting worksheets.
