I have always used a 3rd party add-on to achieve this interface (XLS files/workbooks in tabs across the top). This is an extremely useful and productive feature. It also has the advantage of using minimal task bar space; Excel is only uses one task bar entry/space. The task-bar interface of option of "Combine taskbar buttons" in Windows (and taskbar No-Text) adds too many mouse clicks is unproductive.

The formatting sub-menu after pasting is awful for keyboard control. An application that tries to "guess" how to help me is the most annoying and inconvenient theme of these "enhancements". If I want to format something after I paste it, which is rare, I will enter the formatting dialog or use common formats on my quick access bar. The forced pop-up "help" is no different in-concept than the Paper-Clip, except without the cartoon interface.
I do not need an application telling me what to do next, I need to quickly tell the application what to do next (through the keyboard) to be productive.
At least the obtrusive Paper-Clip could be turned OFF.
