I agree that it would be nice, but meanwhile, you can do this with a macro. I made one that copies, pastes values, and converts any n/a to 0. So after a lookup, I press the three key combination and my column is ready.
I probably do this 50 times a week, if not more. -

Yes, there is so much real estate in those ribbons that I don't use, and have to squeeze a few things into the QAT, that then sometimes ton't work, but also end up hiding the name of the sheet when you reduce the size of the sheet.

Clarifying this issue,
With different screen resolution in different computers, I've always had to adjust zoom, even between macs or pc's. Of the 25 or so PC's I've bought over the last 15 years for my office (since I replaced everything in 2002), we probably have a half dozen different resolutions in screen sizes from about 10"to 24", and people tend to use what suits them or their eyesight. And the two Macs have different resolutions, so I always have to zoom sheets from the other one.The issue seems like it is more the size of the pixel that causes different column widths fitting of text in the cells.

I think this comes from a larger problem, where databas numbers appear on the screen, but as "general". I find they are useless. every column needs to be formatted. If text, "Text to columns" clicking "Text" on the last popup. If they need to be numbers, you can just use the "Text to columns" and immediately hit "Finish". Once you have done this, they respond to the decimal command, although only the currency command if you open it and select the currency you want.
