I find it difficult to locate the currently selected cell(s). The current method of marking the selected cell(s) is hard to see. If I look away from the selected cell to see other parts of the spreadsheet, it takes a while to find and return to the selected cell.
I'd like to make the following suggestion as a way to eliminate this problem.

    1. Completely remove the current method of highlighting the selected cell(s).
    2. Allow the user to choose an included Cell Style or one created by them as their default for identifying their selected cell or cells.
    3. This allows the user to set all aspects, fonts, colors, borders of the selected cell's or cells'.
    4. These default choices should be set in Excel's options.
    5. If by chance the user selects a cell or multiple cells that match or closely match the default colors, allow the user to quickly set a different, temporary, Cell Style, to identify selected cells,. HOME/STYLES/CELL STYLES
    6. Allow the user to select an included Cell Style or a Style created by the user as the temporary cell identification scheme.
    7. The temporary Cell Style will remain in effect throughout the workbook until it is changed either back to the default or to a new Cell Style
