Thanks everyone for all of the passion about this suggestion! The number of votes has increased greatly in the last couple months and we’re taking notice! We’ve got a bunch of other Excel endpoints behaving this way already and we’re evaluating getting it done in the Windows versions sooner based on the number of votes it gets – so keep the votes coming!

I don't understand why you think Worksheet.RowCount would be any better than Worksheet.UsedRange unless there is a change in the way the application is determining that used range. If the application thinks the lasted used row is 26 then wouldn't the RowCount return 26 also. I agree with K.B. that maybe you want a change to UsedRange.

I would hope it would apply to all objects/images/etc... I find it odd how Powerpoint has this feature but Word and Excel do not.

Isn't that what scientific notation is all about? and should be used?
If you really prefer to view it in non-scientific notation you could add a column with the formula:
    =VALUE(TEXT(A1,"0.00E+00"))
Where A1 would refer to the original data and the number of 0's in 0.00 gives you the number of significant digits

Thanks for all of the votes – the team has definitely taken notice of the activity around this issue. We moved to SDI as a result of customer requests, but it looks like we’ve got work to do to really nail the use cases people care about. From a read over the comments, I see a number of cases that we will want to investigate further as we think through MDI vs SDI. We’ll get someone from the team to take a deeper look, and we may reach out to some of you for more clarification as we go. Thanks again for all the voting and passion here!

Why can't it be like browser windows and be able to 'pull' a tab off into its own window or merge tabs back into a single window?
