Thanks for the suggestion Malcom. We’ll keep an eye on this – we’ll be more deeply investigating things with more votes, so people should up vote this if they like it. I’d also encourage people to chime in on the comments for this one with any specific asks for particular cases/operations they care about more than others.

    Cheers,
    John [MS XL]

Isn't this possible now? Check https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff196600.aspx for details or google "Solver VBA."

Of potential additional note on this, some of the tutorials I did find start out creating a webpage for Excel (e.g. https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/office/jj220082). That's all well and good for that use case, but the vast majority of my VBA code has nothing to do with a webpage. If JavaScript will be the successor to VBA I need a tutorial that explains how to replace my current use cases with it; not one that is built for future use cases.

Thanks for the suggestion Nick. We’ve got some related work we’re looking at soon, and we’ll be sure to carefully consider if we can get a fix in for this then. As always, more votes helps – so keep voting for the things you care about most.

    Thanks,
    John [MS XL]
