Hi – due to concerns expressed by people who did not like the way the lock symbol was added to protected sheets, we will stop showing it on sheet tabs in Excel for Windows for the time-being. We may bring it back in the future in some other fashion.
If you’d like to see a lock symbol or some other visual indicator when a sheet is protected, please add your vote and comment here.

Please put it back .... or at least add an option to choose whether to put it back or not ...... I'm sharing files with other users with unlocked areas for data input...... the sheets are password protected but the passwords are shared just in case there is a need to unlock them ....... the symbol was very handy for easily seeing if anyone had unlocked a sheet .... thanks!Patricia Buckley supported this idea ·
