VBA already has passable error handling. On error goto and on error resume next. They are rather old, but they work fine.

We do not want to clutter the language.

Fonting colours in comments also became unusably slow.

When running regression tests, they need to run with similar performance to pass.

The ribbon callback model is horrible.

And a complete mess if you are stuck on a breakpoint.

So how is Lua better than VBA? It is untyped to start with.

JavaScript and .Net are completely different environments. It is not a matter of a bit of syntax but a different way of working. And one that is completely beyond end users.

With no declares, opens etc. VBA could be as safe as JavaScript.

And then you would be able to put it on the server.

There is a trick to this, namely to manually put line numbers in front of every statement. Then every method needs an on error goto to a trap and with a lot of work you can get a stack trace.

But it is nasty, and something that should have been fixed long ago.

Please, give VBA a bit of love. I know that .Net was the hot thing, and now it is JavaScript, but there is no way that end users can develop JavaScript!

If you kill VBA by neglect, you will kill Excel.
