Thanks for your support for this suggestion. As some of the comments have concluded, there are a few complex technical issues and considerations that have delayed this from being implemented.
We do think that this suggestion has merit but we don’t think that we’ll be able to devote time to it in the near future.
One of the primary reasons for this request was to have a better way to handle formula cells in line charts, and this can be accomplished using the option to show #N/A as an empty cell. Thanks for all your support of this request. We are taking a close look at this along with the related requests about maintaining leading zeros when entering values in cells, and to stop changing values to scientific notation.
We know these are important issues, so thanks for all the comments and votes.

Thanks for the suggestion Nick. We’ve got some related work we’re looking at soon, and we’ll be sure to carefully consider if we can get a fix in for this then. As always, more votes helps – so keep voting for the things you care about most.
Thanks,

Perhaps this can be extended to links from other workbooks as well as worksheets. I hate the default which enters absolute references when referencing another workbook - it is hardly ever what I want and it is counter-intuitive since references from the same workbook are added as relative.
