Return empty string not working
PROBLEM: Return empty string not working
SPECIFIC: =IF formula using " " returns #NAME?
DEVICE: iPhone 7+, IOS 13.2.3
OBJECTIVE: return a blank cell
The return MUST be blank, not 0, or any error.
This is due to other formulas in the worksheet.
SOLUTION: cell formula only, do not solve using VBA
With new workbook:
Cell format: General (default), or number gets the same result
Cell A1 is blank
Cell B1 is blank
Cell A3: =IF(A1,=0,"",A1-B1)
or i.e. =IF(A1-B1<=0,"", A1-B1)
or i.e. =IF(A1-B1<=0,"Hello",A1-B1)
QUOTATION MARKS FORMATTING:
- When entering only text in a cell quotations marks are proper: open quote, text, closed quote.
i.e "Hello" returns "Hello" (although this web page does not support proper open or closed quotes)
- Settings / General / Keyboard / Predictive is ON.
Turning this OFF does not change the result.
