Great suggestion, this is definitely something we’ve been thinking about. We’ll consider it along with all the other ideas here and prioritize it according to the votes – so please keep voting if you want to see the priority raised!

The ability to rotate text in a cell to varying degrees (at least 90) which is available in pc excel via edit cells - format -,rotate text....should be included ASAP. This feature used primarily in the header cells of a column where the filtered cells would be of limited width (I.e. 1 digit...or an “X”) allowing greatly increased utilization of limited viewing real estate.
Ironically, Google Sheets has even included this feature at this point (formulas were once required)...despite the app being barren in terms of features compared to xls in general.
Please add this staple functionality.90 votes
It will be extremely useful to be able to create in-cell dropdown menu on the MS excel app on ipad. I have to go back to my laptop computer everytime I do this and it is not nice33 votes
This feature is essential for many Excel Power users as it is used for entering data under subheadings which is the only way to indicate separation in Excel. This allows them to present their spreadsheets in an appealing way.32 votes
Add a way to add fonts.24 votes

Like the heading suggests, the option to ‘strikethrough’ text or cells is missing on excel for iPhone and iPad.16 votes
When are Form Controls going to be available on iOS devices? The number 1 tablet on the market and Form Controls don't work on it. This is 2018, what is your excuse for this not working?15 votes
Currently it’s not possible to print grid lines in the Excel spreadsheet. This can be a vital, particularly when the cells are very full.
Please develop an option to print grid lines with the spreadsheet.15 votes
Being able to lock cells in Excel for iPhone / iPad would be greatly appreciated. To protect formulas from being accidentally edited or deleted.13 votes
Text formatting for portions of a cell’s text is an important part of my workflow. iOS version currently clears any of this formatting as soon as you enter a cell.9 votes
The iPad version of Excel only allows for a single color cell fill, unlike the PC version which allows dual-colors with various affects. A dual-color cell fill (or at least display from a dual-color cell PC file) would be helpful.9 votes
Add footers and the ability to print worksheet names in footer.7 votes
I would like in Excel for iPad formatting transferred (similar to the "brush" function in Excel for Windows).7 votes
I wish I could customize the data sorting on my iPad as I can on my MacMini. I feel very limited when working on my iPad.6 votes
On the desktop version, once you pick a color for cell filling, it retains that color until you change it. Why do we have to continually pick the color on the iPad version instead of it retaining and a drop-down being available to change it (similar to Windows)?6 votes
Need FORMAT-to-PRINT Features (e.g.: Print to PDF to share as standalone or embed into larger visual or old-fashioned Printing)
FORMAT-to-PRINT Features to enhance both DIGITAL spreadsheet viewing (working in a document ourselves, embedding it into a larger file/other programs, presentations, etc) and also to allow HARD-COPY (Yes, the tree-killing type of printing, only when necessary). These help create better documents and easier sharing spreadsheet work in Excel or as a PDF, etc... Formatting items like these below make interpretation easy and enhances file sharing so that the senders and receivers can see the framework of the document, allowing them to spend less time figuring out what they are looking at, how long it is, what page they are on, when it was done, even who sent it, and so on.
Even if allowing truly “custom” margins is too difficult a feature to add to mobile, surely you could allow users to modify from the Standard default margin width and choose: Narrow or Wide.
•HEADERS & FOOTERS:
w/popular options, like: Page #, Current Page#/Total Page#, Auto-Date, User-Added Text, File Creator, Tab Name, Spreadsheet Name, etc...
•COLUMN/ROW POSITION @PRINT:
Although, as stated below under “Print Preview”, there is some functionality for this request, but it too is insufficient for ideal usage and unecesaarily confusing. Users often want to set and retain these settings whilst finalizing a spreadsheet; it helps the file creator ensure the document is viewable as intended and will be best received and interpreted with others. Setting these should be possible within the creation of the spreadsheet - not just when actually printing the document (or print to PDF, etc). These should accompany the easy ability to chk “Print Preview” while working in the file - and most importantly the settings should be retained, not only appear (and require re-setting) during the printing process:
->PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE.
->FITTABILITY (e.g.: scaling, or fit all columns to page, fit all rows to page, etc...)
->PRINT GRIDELINES (borders can be set within the working document, but it would be heldpul if this feature was available - much easier and faster when the document knows what cells to extend gridelines to automatically. It can help viewing as working document - and they will be present if set whenever printed.
->PRINT TITLE COLUMNS/ROWS-with freezing already a feature, just as long as this functionality is retained and displays when printed if the document has multiple pages in any direction.
I have been using Excel on my iPhone a while, but sporadically and don’t believe this feature exists, unless actually starting to print it out where it shows at least part of a page. If all pages can be scrolled through mid-print to view, it still is insufficient. To be useful, we need to add formatting to print featrues and be able to test-view them easily, instead of only viewing amidst a few step print job.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something useful here, but realize my request list (and wordy rationals) are beyond where any normal reader would make it🤗. The secret word is “Kangaroo” if someone read this far down. If an MS Dev made it this far, then this 🍺drink’s on me:)
