  1. Improve Header Formatting. It is impossible to format using the very limited toolbar. It would be wonderful to use full formatting Palate

Be able to use full formatting palate for headers. The header formatting palate that pops up does not include color.

  2. Allow users to define Programmable Hotkeys for any Simple or Advanced Functions!

You don't need to break Excel's hotkeys to do this! You can keep your shortcut key TOTALLY INTACT!

Here's how you do it: Give us programmable hotkeys, for example Option 1 - 9 Can be user-programmable hotkeys.

For any given user, there are 10 involved tasked that they most commonly perform, for which there are no hotkeys.

For example, for a user they might be:

    1) Drawing a box around a cell

    2) Converting a Number to a Percent

    3) Creating a line graph specifically out of two columns (which normally requires 2-3 clicks - the hotkey will enable the…

  3. Don't prompt to save at opening a file

As soon as I open a file, Excel believes that there a changes to the file, just because there are formulas in the workbook, and automatic evaluation of formulas is on by default. This is annoying because I cannot only open a workbook to quickly take a look at something and close again, without being prompted to save 'changes'.

I would like this behaviour to be like in Windows, where formulas are also evaluated automatically by default, but Excel considers only my manual changes as true changes.

  4. Keep the Count of the Rows and Columns involved ALWAYS on hand

    Example:

If I want to sum 300 rows, I write: =Sum(M30:M330), I often can't remember the COUNT. Have I just summed 300 rows in that equation, or have I summed 301 rows? You see!? I WASTE A LOT OF TIME double checking that the area selected by my formulas selected the number of rows I intended or 1 row too much/too few.

It's hard to figure this out! It shouldn't be.

When I'm double clicked on the cell with a sum function, for example, highlighting a range of (M30:M330) within the function, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SCROLL OVER TO…

  5. Text file Save As File Format EOL character should be LF

When I save AS Tab Delimited or CSV it keeps using the old Mac EOL of CR from pre-Mac OS 9. Mac OS 10.x default EOL is LF, same as Unix/Linux. Apple switch to LF from CR in 2001, it's been 15 years.

LF should be for Save AS File format options of:
    CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)
    Comma Seperated Values (.csv)
    UTF-16 Unicode Text (.txt)
    Tab Delimited Text (.txt)
    Space Delimited Text (.prn)

If File Format Option says Windows or MS-DOS, then it should have an EOL of CR/LF, which is currently doing.

  6. "Office sounds" are too loud

Hi. Office 2016 sounds are far louder than they were in Office 2011. For example, if playing music using iTunes with the iTunes volume slider at maximum, the Office sounds are far louder than the music. I've had to turn off Office sounds for now. Please consider reducing them in a maintenance release or in the next version.

  7. Mathematics and equations tool is really slow & unintuitive.

My biggest gripe with Excel 2016 is the fact it's SLOW!

I mean, startup for this app is ridiculous on both mac and PC, but on MAC? Oh my! It's insanely slow. If you get the app open (12 min too late), you have now the most RAM hungry app in your computer open. It's not necessarily that you're even processing anything in the moment. Or generating random numbers. It's actually just that it's really ram hungry.

I can only tell you my most frustrating moments in Excel are when it literally will just give me a spinning color ball…

  8. Produce a cross reference to convert Excel 2011 commands into Excel 2016 commands

So many trusty commands in 2011 do NOT work in 2016. Few of my macros written in 2011 work in 2016. Despite the instructions, the Quick Access Ribbon in 2016 does not work reliably, and many heavily used commands DO NOT WORK. The icon exists, but does nothing when clicked. We desperately need a cross-reference to recreate in Excel 2016 what we depend on regularly in Excel 2011. Why, oh why, did you have to change virtually ALL the commands. Someone at Microsoft has sadistic tendencies that need professional attention.

  9. Can Excel also have smart decimal outline number sorting?

So 1.24.3 comes before 1.101.4 and after 1.9.14?
Needed for all sorting in table with classifications numbered according to some standard.

  10. Remove the addition of "Local Paths" To Hyperlinks, rendering them broken after moving the Spreadsheet in Excel for Mac 2011-2016.

    i.e

    I set a hyperlink as file://localhost/Volumes/Archive/Video Content
I save I exit the Document. Share it with a user.

The path is correct, however , reopening, Excel forces an addition an becomes,
    i.e file://localhost/users/archive/../..//Volumes/Archive/Video Content

This of course starts to causes issues.

Please contact me should a update for this be in the process.
    Thank you.

  13. Why is it that the most important tool in the Tool Bar, the one for editing what you have entered in a cell, KEEPS DISAPPEARING!!!

The field that is necessary when you need to edit or add to ANYTHING in a cell seems to have no name and periodically DISAPPEARS FROM THE TOOL BARS!!!!! I can't even find a name for it!!! DAMN! This reminds me of the old Lotus 1-2-3 when you were "Just supposed to know" that f2 was delete, it wasn't written down anywhere, it wasn't even on the key template! This is the same thing, the field I use the most is just GONE!!!!

Can you give a bit more info about the control you are talking about? (maybe a screenshot, or describe the control a bit more)

Unfortunately, while I can tell you’re frustrated, I’m not quite sure what tool you’re referring to. In order to edit a cell, all you should have to do is click the cell and start typing.

Also – what version of Excel are you using?

    Cheers,
    Dan [MS]

  15. Opening .cub files to let us work on B.I. basis

As many people who works in a Business enviroment, I face off daily data files coming from DBases on Winservers machines.
Our Dbase export B.I. files with .cub extensions, who can be easily opened and analized with Excel 2010 or above. We have licensed Win and Mac 2016 versions, but Mac users cannot open .cub files...
Webought Excel for that, and we won't sell our Mac for Win PCs, so why buy MS appplications if they don't work on a Mac? For simple tasks, Libreoffice works great....

Thanks for submitting the request, but we simply don’t have an Analysis Services database engine that runs on the Mac. We’re investigating ways Excel on Mac might be able to work with tabular models that are loaded on servers, (either on-premise or in the cloud), but we don’t expect offline .CUB files to work on Mac Excel anytime soon.

  16. 'Save as...' window is truncated so cannot actually hit the 'Save' button

'Save as...' window is truncated so cannot actually see/hit the 'Save' button. Can't scroll though the window so have to make the whole screen full size in order for the Save As window to resize to fit the page. Is this a bug that needs fixing (v 2011)?

  18. Use return key to change cells and retain copied information

Why doesn't using the return key in 2016 Mac to change cells retain a copied formula to paste? Now we are forced to use navigation arrows (or clicking - both much slower) as the only way to navigate to paste. I miss this function from earlier versions

  19. When i save a worksheet as CSV format in Xcel 2016 the variables are separated by semi-Colons instead of Commas. This causes severe problems

When i save a worksheet as CSV format in Xcel 2016 the variables are separated by semi-colons and not comms.
This causes severe problems when importing CSV files in other applications. Cel 2011 correctly exports CSV files with commas separating the variables.

  20. EXCEL for MAC

    Bonjour.
