  1. Error bars improvements

    Error bars in bar plots

    - Error bars now: one value pr. series - should be one value pr. bar.
    - Value can't be linked to cell.
    - Value entered now is not length of the bar, but half the bar. So error bar ends up being twice as long as needed. All values have to be halved.

      • Excessive use of memory even for simple operations

I have tried to isolate the issue, but I couldn't find one exact scenario that I can link to this problem: Excel starts using memory at galloping speed when doing simple operations such as remove or insert a row.

I am using a 2017 MacBook Pro 13, Macos High Sierra and I have the latest Office 2016 updates. I did a fresh install.

I suspected the conditional formatting is an issue (which it is another problem because you cannot format fonts on Mac). I removed all formatting, yet I have the same problem. It seems that Excel is using the…

          • Fix view header problem

Opening files in Excel Mac 365 created with a template using Excel (Mac) 2011, headers are overwritten when I use View->Headers and Footers while viewing in "Normal" mode. Instead of displaying the header contents from the opened file, a blank header is created, erasing the previous header contents. When this happens, the footer is unchanged. If instead, the file is being viewed in "Page Layout" mode, the header is displayed correctly and can be modified. Seems like a bug in the Normal view while operating on some older files.

              • Fix all the printing problems in the new versions. 2011 Worked great, the new one is horrible and I cannot use it

IN Every version of Excel up to and including 2011, Excel could do a page set-up for a PLOTTER and I could print BIG spreadsheets on 48" Wide plotters. The "New" Excel CANNOT do this correctly. Anything bigger than tabloid, Excel interprets as letter size, it is disastrous. FIX THIS! or I will never upgrade.

                • If type "11-12", have it echo "11-12'", NOT "12-Nov" !!!

                  Why that ugly, stupid format?
If I has wanted "12-Nov",I WOULD HAVE TYPED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

                  • Enable Label Options for Pareto Charts--can't rotate column data labels

After creating a Pareto Chart, I am unable to use the Size and Properties options in the Format Data Labels pane.

After chatting with MS support for an hour, the tech. was able to replicate my issue. I'm running Excel for Mac, v 16.16.1. My data labels are for dollar amounts which are too long to fit next to each other. I simply want to rotate the labels so they are readable.

I made a basic column chart of the same data and I can rotate those data labels.

                    • "Night" version

Make a setting that turns cells a dark/black color and the lines white. Twitter has a setting like this, where your timeline turns dark blue and the words turn white.

Since the cells are formatted for what they will look like when printed, and the default is to have white background with black text. You can make your own worksheets “Night” theme by selecting the entire sheet and then setting the background of the cells to a dark color, the font to a light color, and the cell borders to a light color.

It would be great to hear how you think Excel should handle a Night mode for the sheet automatically. For example, if the sheet has content that is in a wide range of colors, should they automatically be adjusted to be easily visible with a dark background, even if that’s not how the author wants them to show up in the light mode?

Thanks for all your comments and votes supporting this suggestion. It would be very helpful if you would add more information about how you’d like to use fuzzy lookup in Excel.

                        • Restore data form functionality (different from VBA UserForms)

I miss the data form feature available in previous versions of Excel and would like to see it restored in Excel for Mac. Note that the Data Form feature is not the same as VBA UserForms. There's a separate suggestion if you want to vote for VBA UserForms.

We will still accept votes on this suggestion. Please note that this suggestion is not for VBA UserForms. There’s a separate suggestion you can vote for if that’s most important to you.

Some comments on the other suggestion indicate that clarification was needed, so I’ve updated the titles and description to be clearer.

                            • Latest Excel updates break compatibility with Windows Pivot Charts

I'm running Excel 2016 in two Macs. One of them is running a version from before March (or so). The other one is fully updated.

When I open a XLSX file that has Pivot Charts and was created on Windows, it runs fine on the non-updated Mac, but on the updated one I get an error like this: (sorry: Spanish message because it's the version I'm using) "Hemos encontrado un problema con contenido de 'example.xlsx'. ¿Desea que intentemos recuperar el máximo de contenido posible? Si confía en el origen de este libro, haga clic en Sí."

                              I've been getting this…

                                  • Include format options for controls

Currently there does not appear to be a method to format controls (Check boxes, Option Buttons etc) in Excel for Mac 2016. When inserting a control, there is a fixed size and font only which may not not be suitable. Provision needs to be made for a user to format the font/size of the control text/label and potentially the size of the control itself (size of the checkbox for instance).

                                      • Remove spurious CSV warning

Opening, via drag-and-drop or File > Open (but not File > Import) a just-downloaded CSV file produces the following warning in Excel (on a yellow background):

"Possible Data Loss: Some features might be lost if you save this workbook in the comma-delimited (.csv) format. To preserve these features, save it in an Excel file format."

I then have to click the 'x' to get rid of this warning...and that's really annoying, especially because it doesn't apply. I have just downloaded the CSV file from the net. It's a CSV file, unedited, and as such, it can't possibly contain any features…
