  1. Excel could not open because some content is unreadable

    Hello -

    We use a collaborate Google Sheets to mark daily hours we spend on specific projects. Every month, I create a pivot table to tally the numbers/project. I want to back up this table for my records in an Excel workbook. When I download as .xlsx, I get an error message "Excel could not open .... because some content is unreadable". Then I click "Open and repair", and it says "Excel repaired or removed unreadable content from this workbook. Do you want to review or save the log file?". Therefore, I can assume some of my data is lost.

    • Right Click mini tool bar missing

      Excel for Windows has a great feature of a mini tool bar when right clicking on a cell. This feature is missing from the Mac version.
      Please add this to future releases.

      • auto fit row height

        either missing or does not function properly as i have yet to find the setting - so i end up creating on the mac then editing on a windows box. Used to be that on the mac it was a better product than windows - if you are going to offer it then do not do it half-way

        • id like to insert po up calendars in different cells of my sheets as it was possible before

          before (in formerly versions 2003/207/2010...) it was possible to insert a pop up calendar in cells and just click on the convenient date to fulfill tjhe cell with the corect date. It's a very intersting option when using a sheet where you have to complete a lot of different dates . Would it be possible to offer again this funcationality? ( sorry for my poor english but i'm french) i have a 365 office version installed on a macbook air. Best regards. LP

          • Excel 2016 Please return the "enable: all files" in the text import box so we can import files that have extensions other than .txt

            Excel 2011 had the option at the bottom to switch to "all files" when importing text files so that files that had extensions other than .txt would not be greyed out. This is now gone in Excel 2016 so it is impossible to import text files that have other file extensions unless you rename them (which is very impractical for me).

            Please put the option back! I want to be able to import .dat, .ici, .ocw and so on as I used to on Excel 2011.

            • FIX THE STINKING FILE PATH RESTRICTION OF 255 CHARACTERS!!!!!!!!!!

                • Allow larger values for Spinner control

                  I want to be able to use the spinner control to increment and decrement date vales, but the max number allowed is only 30,000, which isn't even large enough to accommodate today's date value much less future date vales.

                  • I just want the damn thing to work-El Capitan 10.11.4 Office for Mac 14.6.3

                    Purchased Office 2011 for Mac last Sept (2015@$238 bucks)-updated to 14.6.3 Does not work with El Capitan 10.11.4-these are the newest versions...I have tried every on from both companies and nothing in Office 2011 works. Not Word, not Excel, not Power Point, not Outlook. Tried trashing and re-loading-nothing works. I spent the money, I just want it to work!!!

                      • Unable to do Save As to OneDrive Folder and Local Directory At the Same Time (Excel)

                        I notice that it is necessary to do two save as functions of an Excel workbook document if I want to have a current copy both in my OneDrive folder and local directory or drive on my Mac. At the moment I have do a save as of a workbook to my OneDrive folder then do a second save as of the same workbook to a local directory or drive.

                        Important suggestion is for the developers to urgently consider writing an option of allowing the saving of files into the two locations at the same time, without having to so…

                            • Turn off partial column scrolling (bring back snap to grid scrolling)

                              In previous versions of Excel, moving the sheet around in the window was done column by column, or row by row. With a MacBook Pro touchpad, I can move the sheet with two fingers, but instead of moving cell by cell, I keep losing half of a cell off the left side of the window. Drives me crazy.

                              • When selecting multiple tabs using command button it keeps auto scrolling back to the first tab. how to disable this please?

                                In Excel for Mac 2016, when selecting multiple tabs using command button it keeps auto scrolling back to the first tab. in older versions you could use the arrows to move along the tabs and select them without it auto scrolling back to tab1.
                                Also, how do you make the tabs smaller? for large excel doc's there aren't enough tab's visible.

                                • Make boxes like 'define name' box and define data for charts resizable.

                                  Not sure if this is editing Make the floating boxes like 'define name' and specify data for charts resizable. They are very difficult to use if names are longer than just a few characters. e.g. when defining a name from a different work book.

                                    • Return features from Office 2010

                                      When copy and pasting, in Office 2010 you get a veriety of options when you right click, but in Excel 2016, it does not, you have to click on Paste Special and then choose from only 2 options! - Thos feature in excel 2010 is brilliant and gives so many useful options for paste special.
                                      In excel 2010, you can create your own personalised menu with shortcuts to the icons that you use most often... This I can not find how to do in 2016. It makes working in Excel so much easier and quicker.

                                      • Excel 2016 is saving a folder with no contents in it.

                                        This is a code issue because this happens in all version of Office, but does not fully execute.

                                        Save a file on a file server connect smb and afp.
                                        The file saves, but will dump a folder with the files name on it. The folder is empty.
                                        This is a normative feature with past versions, but the folder stays in the Finder window in the server and does not disappear.

                                        What I have done
                                        Upgraded OS and ran updates
                                        Connected by smb and afp
                                        Upgraded server and ran updates.

                                        Issue still occurs.

                                        • Change Cell format to date-time

                                          I work with many excel files from various sources. I found several files that contains date-time data columns. But there are some rows display as a text but the cell format show as a date-time. When I use the file in another system it can not parse as the date-time. And when I try to change the cell format, nothing happen. I have to double click editing the cell and press enter, then it will accept value and change to date-time.

                                          This happen in both MS Excel for Mac 2011 and 2013.
