Bring back a fully functional VBE (Visual Basic Editor for VBA)
Please bring back the full editor capability of VBE to Mac Excel 2016, like we had in Mac Excel 2011. As it is, the "slimmed down" editing experience of VBA is more like a notepad experience than anything - making it basically impossible to
* edit VBA from scratch,
* get syntax highlighting
* see a watch window

Hi All – The Visual Basic Editor was greatly improved in an update several months ago. If you don’t have the latest version of Excel for Mac, please go to Help > Check for Updates and update to the latest version to check it out. Thanks for all your comments and support for this feature.
If you notice issues as you are using the latest VBE, please let us know by clicking the smiley-face feedback button near the top-right of the Excel window.

The Mac 2016 Excel macros do not function well. The screen can freeze for a time and a save is necessary to even view the result of running the macro. Mac Excel 2011 and Win 2016 both handle the macros much better.

Tom, I almost flagged your comment as inappropriate. By "Windows-machine", I assume you mean something like VMWare Fusion or Parallels. Unfortunately, that's still the most viable option for Mac users with serious computing to do.
When porting of the VBE from Excel 2011 to 2016 was announced, I told myself "don't hold your breath" and kept using Excel 2011, although I also have 2016 (which is inadequate).
I love my mac, but I'm going to have to buy a "Windows-machine"... Limitations on Excel and OneNote, as well as the inability to run Project and Visio force me to do so... I feel sad... really sad...
I have updated excel for mac 2016 with the last version (15.26.0). There is no improvement of the VBE.
It is really useless and I have to use the 2011 version.
How Windows developping team can release such a VBE version ?????
I continue my project with VBE of the 2011 version but it will have issues when it is used with 2016 version in the future! All the job will be needed to be done again!!!
What is happening to VBA 2016 on mac? Can somebody from the Microsoft team answer?
How much longer will it take?
It's a joke. Excel 2016 VBE is absolutely useless. What a shame! Because of acceptable VBA integration (practically no IDE, not to mention the missing references etc.) I simply cannot use Excel on my MAC.
What is happening to VBA 2016, it sucks. My notepad workes better.

The only viable VBE is in Excel for Mac 2011, but Office 365 subscribers only have until 22 September 2016 to download and install Office 2011, before it is removed forever. Will MS consider extending the availability of Office 2011, or reveal more details of when a functional VBE will return to Office for Mac 2016?
As to differences requiring porting between versions; StrFileToOpen=Application.GetOpenFilename returned ":" as the file separator on Mac in previous versions. now it returns "/" in 2016.
Separately, is there any way to view one procedure at a time with 2016. The drop down combo box listing all procedures in a module seems to have gone missing.
what about PowerPoint??? we need all those features for PowerPoint also, please...
VBA Editor in Excel 2016 is still unusable. The debugging functionality is poor compared to 2011. You can't easily (intuitively) step through code anyomore. Macros written in 2011 don't really work and Dir() crashes my machine...every single time. 2016 feels like a downgrade compared to 2011. Bitterly disappointed.
Dan can you advise if any of the VBA Editor features will be released with the 64 bit version?
Is the intent to release the entire VBA editor in one release, or is a phased release possible?
For a fix for Spanish Spell Checker in PWP we have been waiting almost a year. Nobody takes into account our need. Very bad MSF. If you need more developers, hire people but we CANNOT wait so years for a fix or a feature INCLUDED in previous versions.
Office 2016 is a step back compared to Office 2011.
I can't wait to have the watch window, thanks for the update!
Hey all. We're still working on this - making good progress, but still a bit to go.
Dan - can we get an update on the VBA editor for Mac Office 2016

Dan Battagin, any News ?
Where is the new VB editor, where are the userforms? I' am curious about the status, but I guess Dan is the left over from the 150 mac guys from past days. So he do the developing. We need to give him a break. We can give him abreak by abbandon the whole Office joke, then someone has more time to reply here, and tell us what the status is.
