Annoying ungrouping of rows
I have many sets of grouped rows, and the detail is hidden for some of them so that only the + signs are showing to the left of the row number above each group of rows. I selected a large range of cells which contains a number of these groups in order to change the height of each row in this entire range. After dragging the row height to the desired value, all of the row groups in my selection range became unhidden. This is annoying—please don’t do this. Perhaps you are thinking the user would want to see all the rows that are affected by the new height, but please give the user some credit for knowing that the height change would change all the hidden rows as well as the visible ones. Your “showing detail” on all the grouped rows after the height change is a real pain when I had some groups showing the detail and some not showing. Now I need to go back and selectively show the detail for those groups of rows for which I had originally shown the detail. In many of your changes in 2016, you try to guess what the user would want, but for me, quite often you do things I DON’T want to happen. Please let the user execute commands with only the expected results.
