Hyperlinks that worked in Excel for Mac 2011 no longer work in Excel for Mac 2016
I regularly hyperlink documents to transactions recorded in Excel, e.g. easy to locate and view the pdf invoice that relates to an invoice entry in a spreadsheet.
This worked perfectly in Excel for Mac 2011 (no longer supported), but won't work in Excel for Mac 2016.
If a hyperlink is created in Excel for Mac 2016 it will work, BUT ONLY UNTIL you close Excel. Next time you open Excel the links no longer work even though they are retained.
Interestingly, if you try to use the hyperlinks in Excel for Mac 2011 again, they work perfectly whether created in the old or new version of Excel.
Microsoft support blame Apple, but the clue is in the name of the product, i.e. MICROSOFT EXCEL.
Come on Microsoft, please fix this as my ONLY solution is to have two versions of Excel running on my Mac. Surely that can't be the solution.
I have an update. Microsoft are now blaming Adobe fo the following reason.
In Adobe Acrobat Reader X there is apparently a setting in Preferences > Convert to PDF > Excel that allows you to select (or deselect) the option Add Links to Adobe PDF.
However, that setting doesn't exist in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, which I am using. Microsoft now blame this for the pdf links not opening in Excel 2016.
Strange then how I can still launch pdf's from Excel 2011 which open in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
Caught in the "blame game" here.
For me this has been an ongoing issue with Excel for Mac 2016. 2011 worked fine but upgrading to 2016 it stopped working. Reported many many times but no real fix.
For me it is slightly intermittent in that it fails 99% of the time but has occasionally had brief periods where it works.
