Unresponsiveness in Excel for Mac
Using Excel for Mac (v16.9) on desktop from an Office 365 pkg (issues while working with local files - not online).
1. Can't select a cell using a mouse (periodically) - forced to navigate via keyboard arrows
2. Selected cells (when copying) won't un-select even after saving or double clicking in another cell
3. Drag and drop doesn't always work - sometimes due to lag times
4. Lag times in responsiveness (overall)
I've read about these issues related to v15 and saw that they were reported as fixed in v15.20. Why am I still experiencing these issues? Could someone help me to resolve this?
This issue occurs frequently — sometimes even have to hit F2 just to nav: Can't select a cell using a mouse (periodically) - forced to navigate via keyboard arrows
And it's getting worse and worse ... Since latest update I need to work in Parallels. Never had a worse version of Excel than this one.
Relieved to see that I'm not alone with this problem. As a power user of Excel this reduces productivity very strong. It seems though that this fundamental problem won't be solved in short time. Since the release of Office 2016 this is going on and various updates later nothing is resolved. Very disappointing.
I cannot believe how bad this release is. Simple tasks like copying a row or inserting a row takes 20-30 seconds to complete. Every time you do something you have to wait. I'm running Activity Monitor and when you perform a command on 16.10 build 180210 the CPU percentage spikes to 99 to 104%. Something is totally wrong in the build code. Unbelievable that this was not caught by Redmond in UI testing.
Re: "3. Drag and drop doesn't always work - sometimes due to lag times "
I've always had a serious issue with drag and drop of multiple chart objects. Multiple select e.g. 3 chart objects and start to drag them and about a third of such edits the charts will disappear - when they have actually just jumped away from the mouse cursor off screen (normally a screen size distance away from the mouse).
For me this has been happening in every version of Excel of Mac 2016 (was fine in the previous Excel for Mac 20??). Been reported and nothing fixed (MS seem too busy introducing more bugs to fix any old ones)
