Marching ants after select/copy/paste will not clear on Mac unless ESC is pressed. Why not on double click in a single cell?
As title

This issue was fixed in 2018, so this status should have been updated much earlier than now, but the marching ants will go away if you take some other actions, including double-clicking to start editing a single cell, or typing in a cell.

Not just on a Mac. I had this for the first time on PC today after an office update. I've found numerous complaints about it on community and this suggestions section and Microsoft seems to be ignoring us completely.
