Fix the bug that prevents using File Save or File Save As to name or rename or copy a file
Get rid of the "Tags" line in the File Save and File Save As dialogue boxes. Since this was introduced in an "Update" it causes the Cancel and Save/OK buttons to be off the bottom of the screen and inaccessible. Thus you cannot either Save the File or Cancel the operation ad return to the unsaved spreadsheet. The only way out of this impasse is to Force Quit Excel, thereby losing all prior work, re-starting Excel and starting another spreadsheet.
The only workaround I have found is to select a file in Finder, use Duplicate File to create a copy of another spreadsheet, then re-name the copy in Finder and move it to the location you want, then Open the copied file, delete all content and formatting, then create a new spreadsheet from scratch. This is hugely inconvenient and time consuming, not to mention frustrating. This problem never existed until an unsolicited update was automatically downloaded a few months ago (and the same problem has recently appeared in Word).
Come on Microsoft - if you can't find competent programmers train some and stop tinkering with things that don't need tinkering with and stop imposing changes that add no value whatsoever to what used to be an excellent, efficient and easy to use spreadsheet program.
What version of Mac Excel are you running now, and what version didn’t have the issue you’re raising?
exactly the same problem running 14.7.2 Mac Excel. Problem started about a month ago, i assume on upgrade from 14.7.1
