Default to My Mac Instead of OneDrive
Good news. This has been fixed and will be available in the 16.12 update. If you get monthly updates, you should be able to update in April. To get the update sooner, you can opt into the Insiders program by going to Help > Check for updates and opt to get the Fast Insider updates.
Thanks – Steve K [MS Excel]
This has been driving me mad, I have no desire to use OneDrive as I use iCloud. I got around it by signing out of excel. Load excel then top left, click on Excel the sign out. Sorted!
This is ******* me off. i don't want to use OneDrive!!!

It's not fixed.
I stopped getting the error by signing out of my account: Excel > Sign Out, and then restarting Excel.
I have version 16.42 and I cannot see my Mac, I cannot save anywhere other onedrive, can somebody please post how to fix this, I just want to save to my Mac. Unfortunately I am not always online so I am paying for a product I cannot use unless this is fixed.

I have now been attempting to disable Onedrive for days and default Excel etc. to save to my Mac - I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. It's driving me MAD. If I sign out, it won't let me save at all. If I click save on my Mac the window just closes. I DO NOT WANT TO USE ONEDRIVE. How do I resolve this please. It's the same for all the other Microsoft 365 applications.

Thanks for the recommendation to sign out of my account (it wouldn't have occurred to me to try that as it isn't obvious what that would have done!). I have no interest in trusting my personal documents to One Drive. That's what I have Dropbox for. Once I signed out, One Drive disappeared from the Save options and it defaulted to my local folders.
This certainly has not been fixed yet. I don't understand why Microsoft assumes that all users will always only want the default that they designate for the application (in this case, Excel). I use different default directories at work than I do at home; that is my choice and I have specific reasons for choosing the locations that I use. I don't understand why this is so difficult for Microsoft to understand.
Oh for heavens sake. No fix to this YET??? I want my documents saved where I want them. I can't even find an option to save "On this Mac" --

This is still not updated - why can't you fix this??
With the charges you take it should not be this difficult to assign this as a task to one of your employees
This is driving me crazy- I click on "on this mac" and the window just closes!!!!! FIX THIS!
This is screwing with my macros - why can't it be fixed??
THIS IS NOT FIXED

Using 16.32 in May 2020, still no fix to auto save to my Mac. Why is MS promising to deliver, and not respond to this thread?
only fix is to log out of Microsoft account under "Word" next to apple icon at upper right--which i gladly did forever!

This thread has been marked as "Completed". I am running Excel 16.32 and can't find where this setting can be set. Where is it hiding?
Still waiting for fix to change for the default save from One Drive
Are you people braindead or just don't care?
I am about to dump office from my Mac as this is still not fixed.
So.... Excel Team... Fix this yet? It's a bug, not a feature.
Hey have you fixed this yet?
This is embarrassingly bad.

25 year + user of Office, and this is looking like the last straw. @microsoft, if you ever listen, give us the choice to save permanently to the local computer
