  1. Direct Paste Value (Text)

with Excel for Windows there is a Right click past as 'text' option which was super helpful when when building price lists for example where you grabbing data from various sources and wanting to pate unformatted text or pase while not messing with the existing cell formatting. Need a paste as text shortcut or Right click pate text option. Mac does have a default Paste as text shortcut (Shift ALT Apple Key V) but the combo is not friendly,

Right now you have to choose Paste Special, Value which is time consuming if you doing it allot.

With the next update to Excel for Mac (version 16.33 or higher), you will be able to assign a shortcut key and/or add the “paste formatting”, “paste formulas”, and “paste values” actions to your quick-access toolbar (QAT).

For the QAT (under Commands not in the ribbon), the commands are called:
    Paste Formatting
    Paste Formulas
    Paste Values

Keyboard Customization (under Commands not in the ribbon), the commands are called:
    Formatting
    Formulas
    Paste Values

For the keyboard shortcuts, you’ll need to assign a key combination that isn’t already being used to open the Paste Special dialog.

This issue was fixed in 2018, so this status should have been updated much earlier than now, but the marching ants will go away if you take some other actions, including double-clicking to start editing a single cell, or typing in a cell.

This change was made directly in response to feedback that we received in this forum and by using the Send-a-Frown button in Excel. We encourage you to send feedback about any issues or suggestions, because we actively take feedback into account when making updates to Excel.

  3. Fix Solver after update 15.19.1

After the update 15.19.1 the picking problem is fixed. But now solver don't work anymore. When you try to solve a problem nothing happens.
    Please fix this!!

Several issues with Solver have been fixed since this suggestion was posted, so I am marking this post as completed. If specific issues are noticed, please post the details about what you are seeing. More detail is better, so that we can try to reproduce and investigate the issue.

  4. Support for right to left languages

We are tired of waiting for a real multilingual Office package for Mac. Please bring right to left languages support to Office

    Hi all,

As of Mac Excel 15.20, we now support RTL languages – Hebrew and Arabic. We’ll also be adding Thai in the next several months.

As such, I’m marking this as completed.

    Cheers,
    Dan [MS]

  5. Maintain copied data on the clipboard even if the "dancing ants" aren't shown around the copied range

I understand that the clipboard can use A lot of memory, but It is sooo frustrating having to re copy everything because I accidently clicked in the wrong cell before pasting.

The clipboard is now persistent in some cases where it would have been cleared in the past. For example, if you copy some cells, and then insert a new sheet, you can paste the copied cells. In the past, the clipboard would have been cleared when you inserted the new sheet.

  6. Deselect Cells While Keeping Other Cells Selected

I would like to be able to deselect cells without having to cancel my whole selection and start over again selecting cells in order to make sure I do not select the offending cell.

Numbers for mac has this functionality. You can hold down the "Command" key to select non-contiguous cells and then if you make a mistake and want to deselect a cell, you just click on the offending cell while still holding down the "Command" key. I really would like to see this ability come to Excel.

You can now deselect cells in Excel for Mac version 16.×. This is only for O365 subscribers. To update to version 16, go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates.

To deselect, you can CMD+Click on selected cells. CMD+Click again to reselect.

    Greetings,

We’ve fixed this issue as of 15.15, and scrollbar visibility should now be respected.

    Enjoy!

  8. After upgrade to High Sierra Excel crashes when I try to change a cell

For the specific crash described with version 15.39, we are not receiving reports of this exact scenario. We continually monitor for crash reports that are submitted at the time of the crash as well as by feedback sent from within Excel (the smiley face button near the top right corner of the Excel window). Other comments here mention a variety of crashes, but we need more detail, such as exact build/version numbers, and exact steps that lead to the problem.

This topic is closed, but again, we continually monitor for crash issues and release fixes each month.

The best way to report a crash is to submit the crash information when prompted by the Microsoft Error Reporting dialog that shows up after a crash.

  9. Allow removeduplicates to be used in VBA

In windows, remove duplicates function can be used in VBA and is very effective. Currently, Mac doesn't support this function in VBA. Please add this to be used on Mac as well. Thank you.

Good news. In version 16.x, the RemoveDuplicates command works in VBA.

Here’s an example of the code:
    ActiveSheet.Range(“$a$1”).CurrentRegion.RemoveDuplicates Columns:=Array(1, 2), Header:=xlGuess

Since this request was about 2 different features, and the Waterfall chart is complete, I’m marking this suggestion as completed. If you were requesting the Forecast Sheet feature, please feel free to create a new suggestion and specify just that particular item so that we can get an accurate picture of the support for it.

  11. Bring back parentheses in Accounting number format

Bring back parentheses for negatives in Accounting number format. These were lost in Excel Mac 2011. They're a common standard.

    Hi everyone,
This has been fixed for a while now, and the root cause was actually a change in OS X’s handling of number formats. If you update to OS X version 10.11 or higher, and a sufficiently recent version of Excel 2016 for Mac (15.10 or higher) you will see these restored.

Julie – if you are unable to update your OS or version of Excel, you should be able to use the following custom format code to add parentheses to for negative formatting.
    #,##0_);(#,##0)

    Cheers,
    Dan [MS]

  12. Bring back CMD-F shortcut for find/replace

Please . . . bring back this shortcut! I use this frequently. It takes up valuable time to go about it the long way.

  14. Bring back keyboard shortcut customization

Believe it or not, what the vast majority of Mac users of Office are looking for is not compatibility with Windows versions of the software, though keeping the features up to date is nice. After having been able to customize keyboard shortcuts for (how many?) years, we are told that Mother Microsoft thinks its better for us to use Windows Control shortcuts that don't do the job we're used to being able to do. Why would you want to make the software less useful?

I believe this represents a small software development savings relative to the number of customers it…

Sunburst charts (also treemap, waterfall, and histogram charts) are now available in Excel for Mac version 16.×. To update, go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates.

For O365 subscribers, there are also Funnel charts and 2D Map Charts available with version 16.×.

  16. Please give Mac users of Office 365 Excel the SWITCH function too

I have an Office 365 subscription and it's infuriating that the SWITCH command which I can use on my PC will not work on my MacBook version (OF THE SAME SOFTWARE FROM THE SAME SUBSCRIPTION!).....Isn't it time you synchronised all versions of the software to give the same functionality to all users regardless of platform?

  17. No more warnings about saving as CSV, especially when I didn't change anything

I don't know how many hundreds (thousands?) of times I've told Excel that, yes, I really truly do mean to save this file as a CSV. I recognize that not all users will understand that CSV doesn't do cool formulas or formatting, etc., but I do and I still want to do it. And I want to do it a lot. Please, give me a way to opt out of these useless warnings!

We’re done – you should no longer get a warning dialog about data loss when saving a file as CSV, as long as the file was originally opened as a CSV file.

Instead, we’ve added a non-intrusive business bar (that you can ignore if you choose) that let’s you quickly Save As the file if you have made changes that are not savable in CSV; if you ignore it and just Save, we’ll just save out the CSV values as you’d expect.

We actually rolled this out starting on August 22, 2016 with build 15.25 for O365 users. Later builds have this update as well of course.

Thanks for participating in UserVoice – we definitely value your input. You can now use whatever votes you’d allocated for this idea for other ideas.

    Cheers,
    Dan [MS]

  18. Bug: Print sets page layout to the same across all worksheets on Excel for Mac

To reproduce the issue, setup two sheets with different page layout (e.g. fit to pages, orientation etc). Select both and press print, then press cancel. Both sheets will now have the same print layout. This seems like a bug because:

    • This is not expected behaviour as it directly contradicts the documentation for Excel for Mac (see link below)

    • Pressing print shouldn't change the design of the spreadsheet and destroy painstakingly setup per-sheet page layout settings that take a long time to fix after this bug has paved over them

    • The Windows version does not have this problem

    • It is highly…

This issue has been fixed and the fix will be available in version 16.35 or greater. Go to the help menu and choose Check for updates.

Previously, orientation and paper size settings on individual worksheets were being overridden by the setting in the Print dialog. This meant that if you had 1 sheet to print in Portrait, and another in Landscape, you had to print them separately, otherwise they would both print in the same orientation. The settings were removed from the print dialog and now should be set on the Page Layout tab of the ribbon for each specific worksheet.

Please send feedback by clicking the feedback button in Excel if you notice any issues with this or anything else in Excel.

  19. Relative hyperlinks broken for Office 365 Excel

The newest two updates to Office 365 (16.9 & 16.10) broke the way that relative hyperlinks work in Excel for Mac.

As an example, if you have documents located in a folder called "Documents" and try to create a relative path hyperlink "Documents/some document", Excel can no longer follow the hyperlink path, and returns "Cannot open the specified file"

This does not happen on older versions of Excel for Mac, or on Excel for PC. This has created a huge problem in my office, where we have hundreds of Excel documents with thousands of PDF links connected this…

  20. Customizable Ribbon Menu Item

In my opinion, there are too many preset ribbon items, which makes finding the command/tools one needs more difficult and time consuming. Immediate access to some tools is essential. The Quick Access Toolbar attempts to provide this function, but let's face it, the QAT is relegated to a place of very low prominence and capacity. And besides, some tools do not currently function if placed in the QAT (e.g. Paste Values) and some tools are not available for the QAT (e.g. Format Painter).

Would it be possible to have the capability of having a customizable Ribbon Menu in the same…
