Add Evaluate Formula to Mac app
Please add the evaluate formula dialogue box to the mac app. With it you can evaluate a formula step by step and see which part of the formula works and where the problem is.

Just click individual cells to sum
Excel 2011 had the possibility to sum individual cells by typing "=", and then just clicking on individual cells across the workbook that you want to sum, and "return" when done. This functionality is no longer available in Excel 2016 (you have to type "=sum(", then clicking on the individual cells while holding down the command key, "return". I would be happy if the old functionality is brought to Excel 2016.
363 votesUpdate – thanks for the continued support of this feature. We’ll keep this request open for voting, but we’ll need to consider modifying the behavior slightly if it is to be brought back. For this suggestion, we would want to enable such behavior on both Mac and Windows, but we would need to do it in a way that does not cause problems for people who don’t want this behavior. For example, it may be that you would type =, then hold the CMD key as you click the cells to be added. Or perhaps you would need to enable a preference to get the old behavior. Please comment on these options or offer other ideas.
We’ve been working to make Excel more consistent between Mac and Windows, as can be seen by the updates over the past several months, which have satisfied several thousand votes on this forum (multi-thread…

A better Name manager
Dear all,
What I love, please read this a need, is a better Name manager.
The size of the list is way to small. If you work a lot with names, then you get longer names which are not easy to select.
Also would like to see an easier way to replace, rename and exchange Names and references. When I make a Template sheet with names/reverences and want to make multiply copies bij code or manualy, its a crime to change or update the Name.118 votesThanks for all your comments and votes supporting this suggestion. "Manual" calculation setting should not affect other spreadsheets
If a user has a spreadsheet that has calculations set to "Manual" (for what reason, I can't fathom), if they open that spreadsheet first, then all subsequent spreadsheets open in that session will do manual calculation.
Calculation settings should not be global like that. If you have to have a Manual calculation spreadsheet, that should only affect that single spreadsheet -- not any others that may be concurrently opened.
This is a terrible design choice.

Formula Evaluation (Auditing) doesn't exist for Mac?
I know, I know...Mac Users are different, but it doesn't mean they can't benefit from clear insights to their Formulas.
Alt+T, U, F in Excel for Windows gives a step-through window for evaluating a given formula. This isn't an option on Excel for Mac. Is there any work being done to enable it? Just wondering also why such basic functions for maintaining workbooks wouldn't be available across platforms.
Looking forward to hearing back.
Thanks.
BPC.

Make Name Manager Mac = Name Manager Windows
Where has the Name Manager for Mac (Excel 2016) gone? I have imported work done earlier on a Windows platform and now need to work with the named ranges...but cannot find a way to access the Name Manager. The suggestion I find on the web to push command +fn + F3 does not work.

Make the one version identical to the other
How can a pc version of Excel be different to a mac version? If we are being forced to upgrade office to benefit from all the new features in excel, then no matter what our platform we should have all the benefits.
I upgraded specifically to get the IFS function, which I now have found out is not available in MAC.... why not?
Make the two versions offer the same capability as soon as possible!

Autodetect functions used in Excel and link me to a short video explaining how to use them
I should be able to click on ANY cell with a formula, and then a Video button lights up to the right of formula bar, which takes me to an excel website with embedded 2 min videos describing the use and construction of the specific function in the formula bar!
For example: Imagine I have something like "=If(And(Or(xyz)))" typed into a cell, and I can't figure out how to make it work.
If i click the cell -> then click the video button that is now lit up, I should be taken to a webpage where the construction of IF…

Excel 2016 for Mac - external links do not hold the current values, but put 0
The issues are confirmed for versions 15.26 and 15.27, and did not happen for version 15.24; there is an Excel file which has an external link to another Excel file which is on a computer which is on the network but not be shared; when we open the file in Windows Excel 2013, the values associated with the link are held in the cells; however, opening the file in Mac Excel 2016, those cells get zero (0) and another cells which are calculated based on the linked values go to wrong values. This is very critical as the file is…

Allow for more than 7 nested IF() logical operators.
This would be helpful for teaching and assigning letter grades since there are 12 options.

WeekNum - let it work with a Array like Month() does
We can use '=SUMPRODUCT( (MONTH(A1:A10)=MONTH(TODAY()) )* (B1:B10) )' to get a result from dates.
However
'=SUMPRODUCT( (WEEKNUM(A1:A10)=WEEKNUM(TODAY()) )* (B1:B10) )
does not, because WEEKNUM can't handle an array or range. Please give us a WEEKNUM that handles Array and ranges
Thank you.

clicking on cell while using formula adds it to formula
In older versions, (2011) when you entered "=" and clicked on a particular cell, it added that cell's value to the formula. You could then click on another cell and it would use addition to add the second selection. Example: When entering = and clicking A1 then clicking B1, then clicking C1, formula would calculate "=A1+B1+C1". Now we have to manually enter "+", or the cell first clicked is replaced with the most recently selected cell.

Support for regular expression functions REGEXEXTRACT, REGEXMATCH, REGEXREPLACE
I would like to see support for regular expressions in Excel for Mac functions. Desired functions:
REGEXEXTRACT
REGEXMATCH
REGEXREPLACE
How they would work is explained on https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3098244?hl=en7 votes -
Touchbar absolute/relative formula shortcut (F4)
When entering a formula, please add a touchbar button (ideally around where F4 used to be) to toggle relative/absolute cell reference. Again, would be much simpler than pressing Fn + F4, which often doesn't work at the moment either.

VLOOKUP and 256 characters limit
Many functions in EXCEL for MAC 2011 don't work at all (they return the dreaded #VALUE field) if the one of the reference cells has more than 256 characters. This is the case already for VLOOKUP, and for TEXT. Possibly for others as well?
Users shall have a list of these, to avoid disappointment. Of course if it could be corrected it would be better.6 votes -
Static timestamps that has an option to be updated when a target cell is updated.
It would be great to have the ability to use a function that targets a cell and when the target cell receives a value gives a "static" Date and Time stamp. Also have a true/false option for updating timestamp when target cell value changes.
Currently the only options are VBA or circular reference. NOW just isn't any use for static timestamps?? Or have
