  1. Allow spreadsheets with links to other spreadsheets on network drives to work between Mac and Windows

    (we have a case open with Microsoft of this: 117010515137743 )

    We have two spreadsheets on a shared network drive, spreadsheet 1 has links to cells in spreadsheet 2. If we create the links on a Windows machine running Office 2016 (link looks like this: ='\staff01\staffshare\CentralDepts\Technology\NetworkServices\MSTest\Folder2[Main.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$5), when we open the spreadsheet on a Mac running Office 2016, the link is broken! (on the Mac, the link is: ='\staff01\staffshare\CentralDepts\Technology\NetworkServices\MSTest\Folder2[Main.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$5, which is not a valid path on the Mac).

    If we fix it on the Mac, so now the path looks like this: ='\staff01\staffshare\CentralDepts\Technology\NetworkServices\MSTest\Folder2[Main.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$5

    When we open it on Windows, Excel tries…

  2. "Paste as pdf" feature is not working properly

    Excel 365 (2016) issue. This is a big problem for me.
    I very frequently copy content from Excel to paste into reports and other documents in WORD. In earlier Excel versions, the most efficient and highest resolution method to do this is to highlight the cells/tables/graph or other content in Excel, copy it. and paste in Word as a pdf. In Excel 2016, Paste as PDF is still an option but the resulting paste does not retain the formatting of the original content, which defeats the purpose of pasting as a pdf.   3. You have to bring back Clipboard in Excel 2016

    Sorry, I have commented before on this topic but I have to comment again. This is crazy and incredibly frustrating. The Clipboard is so essential. Right now I am trying to copy about 22 individual rows of data (each about 32 columns wide) but spaced about 50 rows apart, so they have to be done individually, to another part of the sheet quite some distance away. Without clipboard it is so frustrating. Once the row is copied,iIf I make one little error, like selecting the wrong staring cell to paste or pressing some other key, the copy is lost and…

  4. Issue with tracing dependents

    EXCEL 15.30. I know one can use the Precedent tool to see what cells are used in the formula of a particular cell but the tool requires finding, activating, and turning off, not to mention the really annoying and completely unnecessary new feature of the message box that tells you that there is no dependent or precedent, thus requiring another mouse click to remove the message. In all previous versions of Excel, simply double clicking in a cell would highlight cells that are dependents. OK, this happens in 15.30 as well but the highlights disappear as soon as one starts…

  5. Autosum Keyboard Shortcut Bug

    Can you please fix the autosum keyboard shortcut to behave like that of Excel 2011. It seems like the behavior is broken in Excel 2016. it sum a row at the bottom of a column way to fast and doesn't let you see the selection and press enter to except it. Also, when summing from the side it does a fast 1 cell sum but you need to hold down the key combination to get the selection cursor in order to make a larger column selection. Please fix. Thank you.

  7. Add Contextual Menu to insert Function

    When right clicking on a cell provide a contextual menu option to insert a function.

  8. Use return key to change cells and retain copied information

    Why doesn't using the return key in 2016 Mac to change cells retain a copied formula to paste? Now we are forced to use navigation arrows (or clicking - both much slower) as the only way to navigate to paste. I miss this function from earlier versions

  9. Simplify formula entry / autocomplete

    If you enter a formular in a cell (e.g., "=Sum...") the autocomplete function pops up and presents you possible functions. You can select one of the functions by pressing the up- and down-keys. However, the most intuitive and consistent way to choose the highlighted function by pressing the enter key does not work as expected. If you press the Enter key, Excel stores what you have typed so far in that cell instead of selecting the function and move on to filling out the arguments.

  10. View (All) option (like Word) to see all white-space characters, training spaces, new-lines, etc.

    Given how single trailing spaces can disrupt smooth functioning of functions, especially like VLOOKUP, it would be wonderful to have an option to display spaces, new-lines (and indeed anything else that can contribute to "hidden" white-space) just like we have been able to see in Word as an option for, ooh, about a century (or at least since the beginning of time).
    At the same time, and in the same mode, a distinctive background shading or similar of numbers-stored-as-text — another huge time waster and caltrop for the novice, and even not-so-novice users.

  11. Automatic detection of matrix formula results

    Add automatic range selection for matrix formula results, as works in Open/LibreOffice and Google Apps for many years - no more F2,CTRL-Shift-Enter...

  12. VLOOKUP and 256 characters limit

    Many functions in EXCEL for MAC 2011 don't work at all (they return the dreaded #VALUE field) if the one of the reference cells has more than 256 characters. This is the case already for VLOOKUP, and for TEXT. Possibly for others as well?
    Users shall have a list of these, to avoid disappointment. Of course if it could be corrected it would be better.

  13. Enable batch convert cell refs in formulas from relative to absolute in one go.

    Sometimes we need to convert a relative reference in a cell (e.g. A1) to absolute values (e.g. $A$1) or the contrary. This is a painstaking process, requiring to click in the cell, locate the references, and adding/removing the $ as required. It is tedious and has to be done cell by cell, and within a cell ref by ref. Like the middle ages! It would be useful and great to enable to select the cell (and even a group of cells) and toggle ALL REFS at once to absolute and relative.
