  1. In Office 2011 for Mac in the pulldown File menu under Recent the user has the option to Clear Recent. This option does not exist in Office

    In Office 2011 for Mac in the pulldown File menu the user had the option to Clear Recent. This option is missing in Office 2016. It was a useful feature. You should put it back.

  2. A function to populate another cell

    A function to populate another cell. Something like;

    IF(a1<>0,LET a5=a1,LETa5="") as a function in any cell other than a1 or a5

    This populates a5 if the condition is met but enables a value to be typed into a5 without overwriting a formula.

    As far as I know, this can only be done today with VBA. This would be so useful to me.

  4. Including a time-or datestamp on templates for reports

    To insert a time or a date, we can either use the stamp function (e.g. ctrl+;) or use the formula (=TODAY). I would like to have the use of a timestamp inside a template, so that when we create a new sheet from that template, the fixed date appears, i.e. as a datestamp. I haven't found how to do this using help.

  5. WeekNum - let it work with a Array like Month() does

    We can use '=SUMPRODUCT( (MONTH(A1:A10)=MONTH(TODAY()) )* (B1:B10) )' to get a result from dates.

    However
    '=SUMPRODUCT( (WEEKNUM(A1:A10)=WEEKNUM(TODAY()) )* (B1:B10) )
    does not, because WEEKNUM can't handle an array or range.

    Please give us a WEEKNUM that handles Array and ranges

    Thank you.

  6. Please don't bar people from using all functions on Office Home & Student 2016 for Mac

    As a student, I have purchased a lifetime license for Microsoft products. It seems ridiculous that I am barred from using functions such as "MAXif". Why can't all functions be made available? I am sure NO company will get rich making extra $ from students in this manner. This is so sad.

  7. DON'T MAKE A CHANGE THAT PUTS MORE "STUFF" IN WHAT USED TO BE A VERY SIMPLE AND RELIAABLE METHOD!

    DON'T MAKE A CHANGE THAT PUTS MORE "STUFF" DO DO IN WHAT USED TO BE A VERY SIMPLE AND RELIABLE METHOD. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU MAKE A VERY SIMPLE SYSTEM THAT WORKED SO MUCH MORE CUMBERSOME?

  8. Rounding issue with Excel and dollar values

    Current Issue just discovered talking to MS Excel Support to see if there is a work around or if someone is solving this error.

    Issue is that when you place values in a cell and do a =ROUND function to format a currency value it rounds down not up. i.e. Summing to Cells and trying to find tax for the two values return in correct value.
    =ROUND ($33.165, 2), returns 33.16 and not 33.17. This is a major show stopper for financial calculations and worksheets.

  9. Why is there no Menu item or Ribbon button for toggling between relative and absolute?

    Yesterday, I spent a good 2 hours trying to change a table's references from relative to absolute. I couldn't find any Menu item or Ribbon button to perform this action, so had to resort to Google.

    That lead me to the support.office.com page for Mac keyboard shortcuts (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Excel-for-Mac-acf5419e-1f87-444d-962f-4e951a658ccd), which told me that I could use CMD+T (which creates a table) or F4 (which is a Redo shortcut).

    So I called 365 support, where I hand to help the agent understand how to use several aspects of Excel (nothing is more frustrating than talking to an "expert" who knows…

  10. Parse

    I’d like to see a “parse” function that can easily separate out strings in cells and pull just one element instead of doing multiple mid() and find() functions. e.g. =PARSE(“Gift card from Company for $200”,4) would return “Company” or ,6 would return $200 etc. Maybe an optional parameter to specify the separators (sometimes it’s hyphens, sometimes spaces, sometimes bars etc). Another optional would be how many words to pull starting at word x, e.g. =PARSE(“This has useful data about product”,3,2) would return “useful data”

  11. Adding notes to formulas?

    Formulas can get extremely messy with messy data. This is especially true when a formula is 10+ lines long. Often, re-reading a formula a few weeks later is absolutely indecipherable. Can we somehow be able to add notes to a formula, similiar to the ' in VBA?

  13. Can the weight of the grid lines be change

    Can the weight of the grid lines be chance? the weight of the grid lines make them lighter than the input in the cells

  14. Static timestamps that has an option to be updated when a target cell is updated.

    It would be great to have the ability to use a function that targets a cell and when the target cell receives a value gives a "static" Date and Time stamp. Also have a true/false option for updating timestamp when target cell value changes.

    Currently the only options are VBA or circular reference. NOW just isn't any use for static timestamps?? Or have

  15. Allow Trace Precedents/Dependents) to work on protected sheet

    If you protect a sheet, Trace Precedents/Dependents no longer works, even if you can see the formulas. This can be annoying if someone wants to see the calculation flow, but the author doesn't want anything changed.

    Either completely disable formula tracing only if the formulas are also set to hidden or add another option to the Protect Sheet dialog to toggle this on or off.

  16. "Manual" calculation setting should not affect other spreadsheets

    If a user has a spreadsheet that has calculations set to "Manual" (for what reason, I can't fathom), if they open that spreadsheet first, then all subsequent spreadsheets open in that session will do manual calculation.

    Calculation settings should not be global like that. If you have to have a Manual calculation spreadsheet, that should only affect that single spreadsheet -- not any others that may be concurrently opened.

    This is a terrible design choice.

  17. clicking on cell while using formula adds it to formula

    In older versions, (2011) when you entered "=" and clicked on a particular cell, it added that cell's value to the formula. You could then click on another cell and it would use addition to add the second selection. Example: When entering = and clicking A1 then clicking B1, then clicking C1, formula would calculate "=A1+B1+C1". Now we have to manually enter "+", or the cell first clicked is replaced with the most recently selected cell.

  18. Hello I've been using Excel on Mac for over 20 years, I've always liked to be able to Sommer discontinuous cells, simply by selecting them

    Hello

    I've been using Excel on Mac for over 20 years, I've always liked to be able to Sommer discontinuous cells, simply by selecting them one after the other after putting the = sign in the cell to receive the sum... it never worked On Windows versions and if I was not careful I found myself with the value of the last cell clicked instead of the sum of the Series.
    Here I've just acquired and installed Office 365, instead of my "old" office Mac 2011 and this automation of the sign + no longer functions...
    Do you have any…

  19. Timecode Calculator

    I'm a video archivist frequently working in excel with footage logs. I'm always looking for tools & formulas for calculating various durations of footage down to the frame. [ HH:MM:SS:FF] I'm looking for a cell formatting and a formula that would allow me to calculate (add & subtract) Timecodes. Another trick to this problem is that footage can have a few different frame rates (frames per second). I know several networks of fellow archivists who would appreciate this kind of functionality. I'd be glad to discuss this further if you're interested in developing.

  20. Make the one version identical to the other

    How can a pc version of Excel be different to a mac version? If we are being forced to upgrade office to benefit from all the new features in excel, then no matter what our platform we should have all the benefits.

    I upgraded specifically to get the IFS function, which I now have found out is not available in MAC.... why not?

    Make the two versions offer the same capability as soon as possible!
