Still no 'live preview' function in any version of Office for Mac.
Live preview has been a very useful feature of Office programs since 2010, but it's still not featured on any Mac version, at least up to and including Office 2016. Why not??

Insert Sheet Row As Default Instead of Insert Copied Cells
When data is on the clipboard, clicking "Insert" in the Ribbon automatically inserts that data, again and again and again. I'd rather disable this "feature" or enable inserting blank rows/columns instead of the clipboard data.
I often insert the data and then two or three blank rows after it, but this keeps on pasting the data on the clipboard. It's a huge pain.
Let us customize how Insert works (Ribbon button).

Text formatting
Can we please have a one button control in the formatting tab which will format text to upper, lower, sentence or proper case. Eg:
upper --> UPPER
LoWeR --> lower
sentence Case -->Sentence case
proper case --> Proper CaseI would write a macro to do this but the VBA editor is useless.

Not working anymore the shift+cmd+* shortcut!!
Hi!
Could you please help me with the following issue related to this post?
I have Excel 2016 in a Mac and previously I was using the following shortcut to select ONLY VISIBLE ROWS from filtered data:SHIFT + CMD + *
After that I could copy the data and will copy only the visible information and not the hidden information, or I could delete only the visible rows without deleting the hidden ones.
But a month or so ago after an update I cannot longer do that and when I do SHIFT + CMD + * what it does…

After upgrade to Office 365, "cut and paste" does not work correctly.
In Excel 2011, if I cut or copied a cell to Clipboard and then inserted a row, I could paste the item in Clipboard into a new cell. With Office 365, if I cut or copy a cell and then do anything such as inserting a row, the Clipboard is erased. This is such a fundamental action in Excel - cutting and pasting - that the "improvement" should be undone. I'd like to know when this fix is accomplished. Thank you.

auto correct in a text box
why doesn't auto correct work in text boxes???
I use text boxes in my quote template and i always have to write everything out. i have created some of my own text replacement inside of the auto correct preference tab so i do not always have to type out common things i write. They will only work in a cell and not a text box.
this is very annoying and also time consuming. e.g. si = Supply and install.4 votes -
Please include the ability to modify the ribbon for Excel 2016 outright purchased Mac edition
I have purchased the 2016 Mac edition of Office and have noticed that Microsoft has dropped the option to modify the ribbon for the outright purchased edition. This has caused me problems as I am unable to do the work required for my course on how to use Excel. I have attached what my Excel looks like compared to what is on you support sight (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Customize-the-Ribbon-and-the-Quick-Access-Toolbar-in-Office-2016-for-Mac-26911d4c-4971-41cd-b606-5fbc0318f499), as it is only available for those that subscribe. Can you please add this feature for the outright purchased editions. I really do need it.

Bring back keyboard shortcut for align right!
Am I missing something or are we no longer able to align right a group of cells using command+R? Looking at the list of shortcuts provided by Microsoft, "align right" is not there. This is very basic excel functionality. How could it have been removed??

Touchbar "edit cell contents" shortcut
Please put a "edit cell contents" touchbar button roughly where F2 used to be. Would save me hours. Much more useful than the current "Paste" button.

Close this file
When you are done editing a file, you should be able to "close" the file and be returned to the default Excel Online screen which shows templates or recent files. This would prevent the locking issue we keep running into when Excel desktop continues to think you or another user is still logged into Excel online. Once the "locked" issue happens, it seems no combination of closing, restarting browser, or even rebooting machine will unlock a "locked for editing" situation. Only time seems to fix it at this point. A "close this file" button would remove all the uncertainty over…

Direct Paste Value (Text)
with Excel for Windows there is a Right click past as 'text' option which was super helpful when when building price lists for example where you grabbing data from various sources and wanting to pate unformatted text or pase while not messing with the existing cell formatting. Need a paste as text shortcut or Right click pate text option. Mac does have a default Paste as text shortcut (Shift ALT Apple Key V) but the combo is not friendly,
Right now you have to choose Paste Special, Value which is time consuming if you doing it allot.

support searching on Mac OS for unicode characters e.g. 0x000D carriage return
support searching for unicode characters e.g. 0x000D carriage return.
Many data sources use 0x0D for a carriage return.
There are times where it needs to be replaced with something else, like a tab character.
"Carriage return" is often present in imported text.
Also it can be created by Option-Command-Enter (useful in making a list within a cell), or
using the Apple Unicode Hex Input keyboard by holding option and typing the 4 digit hex code Option-000DWhen searching for this character in Excel 2011 (or Word 2011) for Mac, Microsoft instead finds the space character.
In the attached file (the…

Bring back the "option-click" shortcut to insert column(s), row(s), or cell(s).
Please reinstate the option+click shortcut or at least a way to customize for it. It makes my work much easier and is the only reason I've yet to upgrade. Thanks a lot!

Fix missing Outline dialog box ("Summary rows below detail")
The button 'Outline Dialog Box' is missing from Data tab > Outline group, hence the options for 'Summary rows below detail" etc. are unavailable (only in Excel fo Mac, confirmed by MS support). This is essential functionality to enable optimal compatibility with Windows version.

Graph Select Data Y -Axis text entry field bad with long text in text box
In the “Select Data” for a graph, if you are trying to edit an existing “ axis range which has a long text (i.e the range is longer than fits in the edit box) then it is difficult to move the text entry point/cursor to the part outside the edit box. Using the left and right cursor movement keys changes the selection range rather than moving the text entry cursor. the dialog is of fixed size so you cannot widen the dialog/lengthen the text entry box.

Excel for Windows has a great feature of a mini tool bar when right clicking on a cell. This feature is missing from the Mac version.
