  2. Loading and deled files

Loading files with my new excell 2016 takes an extremely long time compared to my previous excell 2011.
The program also requires an infinite amount of charging time when removing, copying and pasting.
Gladly a solution for this problem.

  3. Fix hyperlink

I upgraded from Excel 2011 to Office 365 subscription for use on iMac running Sierra 10.13.2.
For my excel spreadsheets, whereas previous 2011 version with hyperlinks opening jpg images in the hyperlink function was no problem
In the latest version, I get the message additional permissions required then I have to grant access having looked through lists of jpg images. Please fix this UPGRADED' version of excel for mac.

  4. Use Mac Core Document Behaviours, not Windows paradigms (e.g. for autosave / recover)

Apps designed specifically for Mac employ Mac Core Document Behaviours, i.e. OS-level methods for handling documents, e.g. autosaving and recovery.

The issues with Mac Excel's document-handling, particularly after force-quitting Excel or forcing a shutdown of the Mac, or a crash:
    - Excel presents a pop-up on re-opening ('Excel saved changes to the file' etc.): this pop-up burns CPU until you click on it. But the pop-up isn't required if you're handling documents in 'the Mac way' in any case, as other apps do.

    • Excel re-opens docs as 'Last Saved By User' or 'Recovered' (from memory): As a Mac user, I…

  5. Add read-write support for OpenDocument files

Excel 2016 can now import and export OpenDocument spreadsheets with the help of cloud converter. However, the files are opened as read-only. What is needed is full read-write support for OpenDocument files, so that one can open an ODS file, edit it, and save it.

  6. Fix High Sierra file tag bug - Excel and Word both clear the file tags

Excel v15.39 clears the MacOS file tags. I had numerous files tagged in MacOS, I upgraded to High Sierra and Excel/Word clear the tags each time it saves the file. Easy to reproduce.

    • tag file
    • open file
    • change something
    • save file
    • tag gone

  7. Auto file backup

Prior to 2016, there exist an option set "Auto file backup". When I recently upgraded to 2016, this file backup feature has disappeared. Please bring it back as this is so vital for protecting previous work if I wanted to go back to the previous

  8. Keystroke command to open excel to the last file used

It would really be great if you could enable a keystroke command to both open excel and open to the last file used in Mac Office excel 2016.

I guess I could learn to write an apple script to do that but I'm a bit challenged at that...also no doubt better if the app engineer is the one fussing with it :-)

    thanks for considering.

  9. Fix the bug that prevents using File Save or File Save As to name or rename or copy a file

Get rid of the "Tags" line in the File Save and File Save As dialogue boxes. Since this was introduced in an "Update" it causes the Cancel and Save/OK buttons to be off the bottom of the screen and inaccessible. Thus you cannot either Save the File or Cancel the operation ad return to the unsaved spreadsheet. The only way out of this impasse is to Force Quit Excel, thereby losing all prior work, re-starting Excel and starting another spreadsheet.

The only workaround I have found is to select a file in Finder, use Duplicate File to create a copy…

What version of Mac Excel are you running now, and what version didn’t have the issue you’re raising?

    Thanks,

  12. format or extension no valid

I don't understand why I can't open files from 2018. Twi things happened: a) the file is saved with the name given but when I want to open a message comes up saying 'Excel can't open this file. Format or extension might not be valid. Check that the file is not damaged' so I can't open it (see attached); b) the name of the file has been changed straightaway by the computer with this kind of name 'DG1_DSDIR_HDR' (see attached). I haven't done anything and it seems that I ve lost a lot of documents as I can't…

  13. Open and Save files to Personal Vault on OneDrive

When I click on Open File, the dialog let’s me choose files from my OneDrive account, however it does not let me go into my Personal Vault folder (doesn’t show) to edit files there. Please allow Personal Vault files to be editable this way.

  15. Allow restoring dos when reopening the app

As used to be the case with Ofice 2011, please allow all documents that were opened when quitting the app to be restored. It is extremely annoying the have to open each document separately, especially when there are so many updates that require quitting the app very often It is a major issue with version 16 (Office 2019?).

  16. Add Favourites

Like the "Open Recent..." menu, provide an "Open Favourites..." menu. I am often wanting this, and it's not there.

See also same idea "possibility to assign a star to a file for quick access on the go (i.e. price lists for quick reference)"

  18. Add a pop up notification on open files

A notification pop up if there are hidden folders or frozen rows in a spreadsheet. If there are frozen rows sheets can appear smaller than they are when opened leading to missed information.
