  1. Bring back all the macro features lost in 2011 and 2016

With 2011 and especially 2016 many of the vital functions in VBA recording and editing were lost making the writing of VBA macros impossible. User forms, debugging and relative referencing were three such features lost.

I used VBA to add features not available in Excel. As a transcriber of old church records I enter a lot of pre 1900 dates. These must be in a special dd mmm yyyy format which used to be checked by macro. I also check other fields for CAPITALISATION and Proper Case. None of this is now possible.

The advanced issue of a new version…

  2. Allow attaching symbols to quick-access toolbar buttons (as is the case in Excel for Windows)

For many years I had a customized set of buttons in the toolbar at the top of Excel spreadsheets. Some of these were standardized commands (splitting the worksheet); others were macros I had created. These sped up my work significantly. I had hoped to use the Quick Access Toolbar in Excel for Mac 2016 to recreate the most important of these. I can do this, but they all have the same button symbol!! Could you allow me to replace the buttons with symbols, as I could in Excel for Mac 2011 and apparently could if I used Excel 2016 for…

  3. Ability to use code-signing certificates

On the Windows side, we sign our XLSM files with a code-signing certificate and set Trust Settings to only enable macros in signed workbooks. Would be great to port this over to the Mac side, with a similar setting, bringing more convenience and security to users.

  4. Please, let us modify the Ribbon and the Quick Access Toolbar in VBA 2016

The menus are gone in VBA. Goodbye. But there's no replacement for these menus. It's not possible, when loading a workbook, to modify them.I know you work hard to implement these properties. Thank you. It's urgent.

  5. Various Bugs in VBA Editor

In Excel 2016 Mac build 171017

    1. Trying to Import class file... When file dialog appears, you cannot select a .cls file. Clicking on the Options button show "Enable VB Files (*.frm, *.bas, *.cls)" This should work, but class files still cannot be selected. Changing the list to All Files (*.*) still doesn't work. Changing the list to Class Files (*.cls) works and you can select a .cls file.

    2. Exporting a class object to a file defaults to Untitled.cls instead of the name of the class. (Same is true for modules)

    3. Editor should default to a monospaced font…

  7. Fix Solver Solving Method drop down in Mac Excel 2016

The drop down for select Solving Method in Solver does not work in Mac Excel 2016. Nothing happens when one clicks to reveal the drop down menu.

One can select an alternate solving method via the arrow keys. Please fix the Solver drop down.

    Thank you.

  8. Allow Userforms that are modeless

Allow Excel for Mac to support Userforms that are modeless, so that the Userform will not interrupt editing of the worksheet while the user form is shown.

  9. Expose a VBE add-in entry point

The VBE on Windows is reading a registry key to know where and how to load VBE add-ins from; that key is the ProgId of a COM-registered class that implements the IDTExtensibility2 interface.

It is my understanding that Mac-VBA supports the VBE Extensibility library; if that is indeed the case then there should be a way to write a VBE add-in that can run on the Mac-VBE, and use that extensibility API to provide additional functionality, integrated in the editor. The mechanics would obviously need to be wildly different than on Windows, but there must be a way for the…

  10. ComboxBox menu partially hidden in UserForm is ShowModal property = True

    Correction of previous post...
In recent update 15.58 (170902), ComboBox menu in UserForm (which ShowModal property is set to True) appears in the background of a UserForm and is therefore partially hidden by the UserForm itself (and not accessible by the User). It was not the case in the previous version (15.37).
See attached file (replace the previous one)
    Sincerely

  12. Bring back the AppleScript menu

It's easier to use the AppleScript menu than the Services menu to make shortcuts to the scripts. Script also starts up faster in AppleScript menu then in the Services menu. This is important when scripts are used in editing.

  13. Uservoice at #excelissues, #msshame, #excelformac,... and social medias posts!

the only way we can be heard, once MS does not care! Lets make all mac users aware of MS policy.
We need to go out of MS universe, the only way we might be heard. It has been 2 years or more.

  14. Solver in Excel for Mac gives wrong answers to problems with binary variables. I teach an optimization class where this is a big problem.

Solver in the latest version of Excel for Mac gives wrong answers to problems with binary variables. I am a professor and I teach an optimization class where this is a big problem. Running Solver in the attached file (and many others) generates wrong answers in the latest Excel for Mac. It works fine in other versions of Excel, including Excel for Mac 2011.

  15. ACTIVEWORKBOOK.SAVE

When the program run and calls code "ActiveWorkbook.Save()" in Excel 2016 (version 15.32 ) for Mac, error "Microsoft Excel isn't responding right now. Do you want to wait or quit? " pops up.

    - The network drive is located in US
    - The MAC EI-Capitan / Windows are located in US

We have tested the above code in Excel 2016 for Windows, Excel 2016 32bit ( version 15.22 ) for mac, they are working fine.

The only problem is on Excel 2016 64bit ( version 15.32 ) for Mac.

I've already sign the "add-in solver" in the Excel add ins options. But I still cannot use the Add-in took kit that windows have.

  17. vba ODBC connection

ActiveWorkbook.Connections("ConnectionName").ODBCConnection is broken. Please fix this single command. It is a blocking issue. All other ODBC commands are working as expected. Please fix this one so everything is working. Thanks

  18. Fix VBA recording issue

Something I came across - which I suspect has been documents elsewhere but I can't readily see it so here goes.

When recording a macro in excel for mac 2016 for some reason the action of opening a file does not get recorded. The recorder literally doesn't register that you have opened the file. (Its a very useful step to provide the full syntax for the file path of the relevant file).

However when you close the file - that step is recorded as ActiveWorkbook.Close.

It took me a while to work out that the syntax from 2011 to 2016…

Thanks for reporting this issue, we are planning to address it, but in the meantime, you can do this with a command such as the following:

    Application.Workbooks.Open “/Users/user_name/Downloads/MyWorkbook.xlsx”

    Fuzzy lookup for Mac

It would be great to have fuzzy lookup add-in for Mac.

  20. Mac Excel 2016 buttons

Macro-activating buttons (and others) that worked fine in Mac Excel 2011 don't transfer to 2016 upgrade.
