  1. THE NEW RIBBON IS TOO TALL AND TAKES UP TOO MUCH OF THE SCREEN!!

    All of a sudden the ribbon has become taller. Why?

    This is not an "Idea" - it is a complaint. Apparently Microsoft doesn't allow complaints.

    • Maintain the position of the search/"Find and Replace" dialog box (and others), except as necessary to expose the found object’s cell

      The search/"Find and Replace" dialog box currently moves to a new position each time it is opened. It appears to be moving slightly down and to the right, such as a cascaded window. This causes the user to have to look to a new location each time Find or Replace is used. The most awkward, time consuming, and frustrating problem with this movement is: when the dialog box reaches the bottom of the screen, it stays there; and in that position the results table of Find All is hidden.       • Add rows across all sheets

        Why is it so difficult to add a row and have it add across all sheets? I an inventory sheet for every month and sometimes we add new products. When I add a new product in Feb I do not want to have to manually copy that row into Mar-Dec and I do not want to have to deal with VBA coding (whatever that means) I have spent hours trying to figure this out and chatted with customer service who could not help me with this.         • Workspace Layout

          Please bring back the workspace layout. The separate windows just makes things messier.

          I just started using Excel 2013. I don't know anything about Excel 2016... but the previous version that I used had a "workspace"... all of the files that I opened would open in that workspace and I could arrange them accordingly. A HUGE feature was being able to align the tabs in a manner than I needed to align them.

          I work with about 7 or 8 different Excel files, referencing them at various times throughout my day. This new layout that opens everything in separate windows…

          • Improve Queries and Connections Task Pane

            Having used the newfangled Queries and Connections pane for some time now I find it is time to add some suggestions

            My issues:

            1. The pane does not remember its size
            It opens really narrow on my system, displaying only a (very) small part of the connection and query names so my first action every friggin time is to drag it wider.

            2. No multi select
            in the old connections window you can control or shift-click multiple connections to delete them. For maintenance this is a very useful feature I miss regularly.

            3. It isn't application-centric

              Resulta muy importante mantener el uso de DDE en Excel. Para poder utilizar combinacion de correspondencia con Word.
              El tipo de combinacion DDE se encuentra presente en Excel desde sus origenes. Es el unico tipo de combinacion que mantiene los formatos de numero tal como se reflejan en el Excel para su combinacion en un formulario de Word.

              • Allow Excel Data / Get Data / From File to work with Onedrive cloud files so that users can share the one data table as a central database

                It took us three months for Microsoft support to understand this simple request and conclude it is a "functional limitation" with current Excel and the linking of data only works on local c-drive, not over a shared onedrive folder between colleagues - sigh.

                Here is the summary of steps:

                1. Open an Excel file.
                2. Click on Data.
                3. Click on get Data.
                4. Select from File.
                5. Select From Workbook.
                6. Imports an Excel workbook which has table inside it and load it to this file.
                7. Once done, upload it to OneDrive from where this files gets to…

                • What version of Excel am I using?

                  I use different versions of Excel when working at home, at the office or at client's workplaces.
                  I would just like to know, quickly, what version of Excel I am working on. This used to be under the Help Menu in a pop-up dialogue box called "About", if my memory serves me. But I cannot find this in the latest version I have at home (part of Office 365), so I don't actually know which version I am using.

                  • Dynamic Array Function Suggestions

                    The current UNIQUE function should be modified to align with industry meaning. For example, in SQL and also in the Power Query Fuzzy Lookup functions, UNIQUE has a meaning OPPOSITE to the Excel function. In both cases, UNIQUE refers to values that occur only ONCE in a dataset.

                    In addition, distinct should not be mixed into the same function. DISTINCT should be a separate function, which refers to values that occur more than once in a dataset (from which we want to extract distinct values).

                      When sorting a range containing a SUMIFS column, and the data to be summed is on another worksheet, the references within the formula go haywire.

                        Refresh All for Pivots and data connections should have a way to set up the order - at least how it progresses from tab to tab, or from top to down on a sheet. Right now, it seems like a black hole on which pivot/tab is getting updated first and which one is last if I have a workbook with 10 tabs and close to 30 pivots and few data connections. I do not see a way to either set an order or find the order in which Refresh All is working.

                          • Add an option to disable research pane

                            I know this can be done in vba but it would be great to add an option to disable the research pane permanently from the options menu. I've never met anyone that uses it, it only wastes time having to close it.

                              I see a request already to add the ability to run medians in pivot tables--would love to be able to do this, and also to run other percentiles.

                              • Can't add ActiveX into Excel 2016

                                Unable to add new/existing ActiveX controls into Excel 2016 whether it is a brand new worksheet or an existing worksheet. Getting an "Cannot Insert Object" error. Have researched previous issues on this and there are only fixes up until Office 2013. Requiring assistance in finding a fix to this issue ASAP.

                                  • DateTime type should be independent of locale (locale should just be formatting)

                                    When copying date values from a Dutch Excel sheet to an English one values became incorrect or invalid. (E.g. 13-02-2018, 02-05-2018 get mixed up).

                                    Suggestions:
                                    1. datetime type/cell value should be locale independent
                                    2. easier conversion from string to datetime (datevalue(a2, "dd-mm-yyyy")) to help fix this manually
                                    3. protect cells from invalid datetime values
                                    4. copy paste datetime across locale should work :)

                                    A similar issue, could occur on currency, e.g. 1.000,00 vs 1,000.00

                                      When working in a single file with multiple sheets quite often is required to view / work multiple of them at same time.

                                      But actually there isn't option to arrange all the sheets in the same window.

                                      • Allow quick access to user-defined symbol subsets

                                        In the "Symbols" selection window, we have "Recently used symbols" which is nice for locating a previously used symbol but it does not scale for large collections, on the contrary, the fact that it reorders the symbols such that the last selected symbol is placed at the beginning of the list makes it difficult to locate a specific symbol by recalling it's static position. The suggestion asks for the ability to create user-defined subsets of Unicode characters per font that can be shown quickly by clicking on a "quick access toolbar" item or custom ribbon button

                                        • Map feature not recognising Wales, England, Scotland and NI

                                          The Map chart feature is great but it is not recognising Wales, England, Scotland and NI as separate parts of the UK. Splitting by county or postcode would also be useful for regional sales, web traffic, marketing, etc?
