  1. Crash out of single non-responsive workbook without leaving program

Sometimes we work with more than one file at a time, save regularly, but not regularly enough (that 5 minutes of work might not be easy to reconstruct). So Excel stops responding. You know which file is the likely culprit (that 40mb with multilple macros add-ins and formatting issues) and would like to just crash out of that workbook - but the only choice is to either wait, or to kill Excel from Task Manager

  2. Bigger Find All Area

When pressing 'Find All', only 2 results are visible.

I would almost always like to see more than 2 results at one. I'm forced to resize the dialog box to do this.

What about making the default bigger, or making the window size persistent?

  3. Save work books to external hard drive

to have a tab to save to external hard drive for quick access and not go thru all this clicking. I hope this helps others as I need it bad.

  4. Insert in general option the possibility to select the angle format: when we use a trigonometric formulas the radiants are very unconfortabl

Insert in general option the possibility to select the angle format(radiant or degree): when we make trigonometric formulas, the radiants are very uncomfortable. Why not use the decimal degree?? The formulas would be much shorter and the work would be the best!!

  5. Allow Excel to use the selected default voice set on the Windows control pannel.

A default voice can be selected on the Windows control panel. However, the specified voice is not used by "Speak Cells" or within a VBA application using Application.Speech.Speak Being able to change the default voice would permit VBA application to be written for use with a foreign language application.

  6. Add Word style numbering and formatting

While it is possible to number rows using the ROW formula, it would be nice to have the type of Numbering available in Word to give an easy way of doing list with levels in Excel.

  7. Make dynamic reference to file paths.

Here it goes, take for example this formula:

    VLOOKUP(A3,'ftp://190.40.27.131/[ST.IO.01-11-16.xlsx]Hoja1'!$B$6:$M$500,6,FALSE)

What if I want the file "name" to change (variable) as I copy the formula across column for example:

Something like this could e a solution:

    VLOOKUP(A3,CONCATENATE("'ftp://190.40.27.131/[ST.IO.",X2,".xlsx]Hoja1'!$B$6:$M$500"),6,FALSE)

Where X2 is a cell with a date value = "02-11-16" (for example). Row 2 contains dates, which are used in naming files.

Hence, it will be equivalent to:

    VLOOKUP(A3,'ftp://190.40.27.131/[ST.IO.02-11-16.xlsx]Hoja1'!$B$6:$M$500,6,FALSE)

Therefore, you could look for a value in the same position in different "file names" without the need to type different file paths for each cell where the formula is copied.

  8. Allow for read only access and read and write access separate passwords.

In previous versions from Office 2007 and below, you were able to set one password for read only access and if you wanted, a read/write password. This allowed desired users to get permissions easier without having to need the extensive knowledge of VBA.

  9. Can Excel be split or better managed?

I'm finding as more and more formatting/ presentation options are added and changes made to make the product more accessible for basic use it makes it harder to actually do serious number crunching/ engineering type stuff. Today I was trying to work out how to change markers on graphs. It used to be a right click on the line and there were options. In the latest office a right click gets you options on colours and fill but markers must be elsewhere.
I understand that others besides engineers and scientists use excel but (and perhaps this applies to all office…

  10. check the question "IP Address as a datatype." as more would love to have it (including me)

Make a datatype format category for IPv 4 & 6 (12 position and 20 bit IP addresses). Opening csv imports of IP Address lists removes zeros and hence changes the sort order

  11. Waterfall Chart improvement - Objects added to chart are "floating"

If objects are added to the chart - e.g. a text box, the text box should remain in the chart and not be a separate object that needs to be grouped together. This is applicable to the other newly introduced charts as well.

P.S. This is based on original thread "Waterfall Chart Improvement Suggestions". As requested by Admin, I am splitting each topic into separate ones.

  12. Waterfall Chart improvement - Data label position is too restricted

Data Label position is restricted (not possible to have negative data labels to show above). add a choice for "always above" or at least be allowed to add a new series.

  13. Please fix =IRR generating #NUM! error with large numbers

I have a series of cashflows, mainly with negative IRRs which mostly generate #NUM! errors. The numbers are very large as they are expressed in Vietnamese , so are in the multi-billions. In some cases a very minor change (ie of a few ) will allow IRR to generate correctly. I increased the number of permitted iterations (to >1000) and the Maximum Change, with no effect. Guesses very close to the actual IRR were little help.

It was fixed by dividing all numbers in the cashflow by 1,000,000. But it would be much better if Excel could work with large…

  14. Formulae Across Workbooks

Enable cell values which have been arrived at by calculations in Workbook 1 to be copied across in Workbook 2.

At present, the copied values will show as, "0", because the values from which they are calculated are not in the receiving Workbook.

Setting the Workbook 1 values as, "text", before copying removes the number properties (number of decimal places etc.).

  15. scale and units

Please provide tools for insert objects, shapes and drawings to be to scale, for example inserting a line with or without an arrow head to be to scale, 10 feet or 15 feet or 6 inches or 123 inches long ...etc.

Similarly ad a tool to work as scale for VBA

  16. import multiple txt files

I have a folder with 15 tab delimited .txt files. I want to import and graph 7 of them. The only solutions online suggest merging all files into one .txt, or to plug in a VBA.
This should be more user friendl, like an "import multiple" button, or simply the option to select multiple .txt files on import.

  17. Need .PBIT Query Parameter Treatment for .XLTX

Opening a .PBIT prompts for Query Parameter values. This same behavior is needed for Excel Power Query reports saved as .XLTX.

  18. Waterfall Chart improvement - Additional series cannot be added

No other series can be added to the chart – Not Visible. This is useful to further customize the chart.

  19. .DBF Support

In Excel 2016, we lost the ability to open .dbf files from Windows Explorer. Restore ability to make excel default for .dbf. in order to convert to .xls etc.

  20. Provide option to break bar in bar chart

Please provide an option to show broken bar in a bar chart when the underlying data has a very wide spread which is required to be plotted on the same chart. There are solutions available for doing this but they are just "innovative-fix" and very long. It would be of immense help if MS itself provides such a feature in Excel (all versions). Hope you understand what I mean..!!

    Thanks
