  1. LOOK

    Use the concept from LOOKUP that enables the column to be searched not to be the first column in an array. This only requires adding a new parameter for VLOOKUP for lookup column. Then I can search for the matching value in column 3 and provide the result from column 1 or 2. Otherwise you have to structure the table for the intended search versus best way to structure table to show data.

  2. Make file size representation consistent

    Currently, the representation of file sizes is inconsistent between Windows Explorer and Excel.

    In Explorer, file size representations have a space after the number (eg 23 KB).

    In Excel, file size reprentations (in File>Properties and File>Advanced Properties>General) don't have a space after the number (eg 23KB).

    I find the Explorer representation easier to read.

  3. Pivot Table : Remove File reference from Data Source - BUG

    The Pivot tables created in a workbook - With a Named Range reference or Direct Cell range reference to a worksheet of the same workbook - does NOT work when the File is copied with a different name.

    In the copied file, (Analyze, Change Data Source), contains the path of original file name. This causes a problem when a template workbook is distributed to many users. Even if the Named Range is restricted only to the Workbook or even a specific worksheet. It still stores the Workbook reference in the Data Source. I also tried "Save as" with different file…

  5. Integration with Wolfram Alpha

    Wolfram Alpha is an excellent mathematic service that can be of help for millions of people that use the Microsoft Office every day, especially Excel for the graphics, Word for the grammar, etc.

  6. Customize Cells with their own Prefix or Suffix

    Format a cell or group of cells, rows, or columns so that when a number or any text is entered into subject cell(s) a prefix or suffix will appear next to (in front or behind) that number or text. eg. "31 Amps" or "11 Hrs" or "101 km/hr"

    Maybe in the "custom" field of "Format Cells", there could be an "Add Custom Prefix" and "Add Custom Suffix" button which allows entry of the required Prefix or Suffix.

  8. suggestion for comment box when you write click on a cell

    when you write click a cell you can insert a comment. Is it possible to improve this; where you can:

    1: change the font colour; when inputting text
    2: have a different colour for the comment box (not just red) on the top right hand corner of the cell
    3 potentially to use the corners of the cell for 4 different comments and each corner having a different colour if needs be

  9. disable text to columns

    I can't disable text to columns. After its first use, Excel forces every subsequent paste to be Delimited. I need Excel to paste without manipulating into columns but cannot turn this feature off. Very frustrating!

  10. Allow images in Comments

    When creating large spreadsheets with lots of cell relationships within formulas, it may be easy to clip a small part of the screen, make annotation(s) to it and paste it in the comment that will open when hovering over the cell. This will make it much easier to understand the model

  11. Compare Tables

    I need a function that will deal with differences in tables, e.g. Build a new table 3 from extracted rows of table 1 that do not have a corresponding row in table 2. Lite this:
    Compare the values in table 1 column 2 with the values in table 2 column 1. If nomatch copy the entire line of table 1 to a new table 3.
    Or: copy table 1 to table 3, delete the rows of table 3 that have a corresponding row in table 2 (same result)

  12. SUMIFS with OR logic besides AND logic only

    SUMIFS currently works like: SUM COLA IF COLB =.B1 AND COL_C=C1 AND ...

    SUMIFS should also work like: SUM COLA IF COLB = (B1 OR B2) AND COLC_= (C1 OR C2 OR C3 OR ...) AND ...

  14. ability to update source data through Power Query view

    The use cases comes up regularly when working with data sets joined from several sources, e.g. a database and an Excel table. In many useful cases one just needs to carefully bubble the change through a series of joins and filters to figure out which rows to update in the original database table, CSV file, etc.

  15. conditional formating with icons to compare a value in the same column

    With the cell just up the active cell, it's impossible. Possible with the first value on the op of the column.
    INDIRECT and INDEX are not supported.

    With icons (ie:arrow up:down)
    to see if the value is the same, greater or lower than the value in the just up the activecell. To see the progression.

  16. Stop Excel Current Process

    So, Excel is not responding. You've just started a really big process / calculation that is using up a lot of memory and processing power.and you realise it will take a long time to complete, if it ever does. You don't want to crash out of Excel, you'd just like to stop current process (by which I mean the action in the visible interface -rather than processed in task manager)

  17. Crash out of single non-responsive workbook without leaving program

    Sometimes we work with more than one file at a time, save regularly, but not regularly enough (that 5 minutes of work might not be easy to reconstruct). So Excel stops responding. You know which file is the likely culprit (that 40mb with multilple macros add-ins and formatting issues) and would like to just crash out of that workbook - but the only choice is to either wait, or to kill Excel from Task Manager

  18. Bigger Find All Area

    When pressing 'Find All', only 2 results are visible.

    I would almost always like to see more than 2 results at one. I'm forced to resize the dialog box to do this.

    What about making the default bigger, or making the window size persistent?

  19. Save work books to external hard drive

    to have a tab to save to external hard drive for quick access and not go thru all this clicking. I hope this helps others as I need it bad.

    Insert in general option the possibility to select the angle format(radiant or degree): when we make trigonometric formulas, the radiants are very uncomfortable. Why not use the decimal degree?? The formulas would be much shorter and the work would be the best!!
