  1. Name a dynamic array (rather than use "A1#" notation)

The new dynamic array notation is incredibly powerful, but one thing that makes formulas complicated is the "A1#" notation when used in formulas.

It would be great if you could (easily) assign a name to it in the same way that you can name an Excel table.

It would be much easier to see:

    =SUMIFS(TABLE1[totals],TABLE1[dept],departments)

    than

    =SUMIFS(TABLE1[totals],TABLE1[dept],B1#)

I am able to define a named range for these values, but that is a bit clunky. It would be great if the naming was exactly the same as Table naming (e.g. in an ARRAY context menu like the TABLE context menu).

    • Add number format for thousandth (K$) or millions (M$)

Could you please add the number format K for thousandth and M for millions (like 5.8 K instead of 5812)
      It would be very helpful.
      Thanks

      • Expand Pivot Tables without overwriting existing data beneath or to the right of table

With all the queries on the internet, we assume there is no built-in option to prevent pivot tables from overwriting data beneath the table during refresh and expansion. Is that correct?

Given that Excel has options for 'inserting' rows, why in the world would Microsoft NOT provide a pivot table expansion/contraction option for inserting or deleting rows from within the refreshed table without overwriting data beneath or to the right of the table?

It is also interesting that inserting rows into a regular Excel table, using the TAB key in the last row, can add rows by expanding the table…

        • Filtering Needs to Work in Co-Authoring

Say that several people are editing the same workbook. If Tom filters to show only his records, then the other people will only see Tom's records. We need to be able to have each person apply a different filter and see only their records.
Note that it is fine to require that the workbook can not have SUBTOTAL or AGGREGATE functions in order for independent filtering to work. If you allow these functions, then everyone will have different calculation results which would be problematic.
It is more important to us to be able to have each person apply a local…

Hello Everyone. We agree with you! The experience you’ve captured here is at the top of our list to address with a future coauthoring feature. I can’t share a timeline for when this will be delivered but wanted to let you know that we do recognize the impact not having this ability has on your coauthoring experience. Stay tuned for more.

          • Show Tables in Power Query when opening an xlsb file

When using Power Query / Get Data to open .xlsx files and .xlsm files, the Tables present in those files are shown in a list.
When opening a .xlsb file only Sheets are shown and not any of the Tables present within the file.

If there is only one table on a sheet, AND it starts in cell A1, then it is relatively easy to still load the data, but where there are multiple tables per sheet, OR the tables don't start in A1, then there is a lot of unnecessary work deleting Rows and or Columns to obtain your…

            • Copy multiple selections into Clipboard

I've always wanted the option to copy multiple selections to the clipboard. When you paste, you'd be presented with the option of everything on your clipboard, to be able to pick which selection(s) you want to paste.

              • Add Dividend Data to Stock Data Type

It would be helpful to include the dividend amount per share and ex-dividend date with the stock data type.

                • Option to RE-FREEZE PANEs at Current Cell Location

I'd like to be able to RE-FREEZE PANES at the current cell location instead of having to UNFREEZE PANES and then having to FREEZE PANES again.

                    • Add a formula formatter (similar to PowerApps)

PowerApps has a great feature that allows you to format (and un-format) a formula with the press of a button to help make it more readable.

                      Excel need the same.

                      • More vba events

VBA events are extremely powerful but currently they are seriously lacking! If the Excel team went through and exposed more events VBA would a lot easier to manage for complex applications.

                        Events to expose:
                        * Row and column insertion
                        * Table specific events:
                        ** Table - Insert_Row
                        ** Table - Insert_Column
                        ** Table - Cell_Change
                        ** Table - On Filter

                        • Stop asking to save changes if nothing has changed

You open and Excel file and look at it for a moment then click Close. Excel pops up a dialog "Want to save your changes?". I didn't change anything! Please stop asking to save changes when nothing has changed. It confuses the user.

This is made worse if I've has that spreadsheet open for a long time and I don't remember if I changed it or not. Or worse, there may be other people working on the same file and if I say "Save", I overwrite their changes.

I heard that this has to do with Excel saving the current…

Everyone knows merged cells are evil and should only be used as a last resort.
Center Across Selection is far superior, but you can't add it to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Table.AggregateTableColumn of Power Query M doesn't allow usage of type as 4-th parameter of an aggregation for last aggregation. I.e if you do this:
Table.AggregateTableColumn(aTable, {"F1", List.Max, "NF1", type number}, {"F2", List.Max, "NF2", type number}) - no any column will be added, but if you do the same without type in the last aggregation - all works properly:

                                • Fix the "There's a problem with the clipboard" issue

The issue with "There's a problem with the clipboard..." while copy and pasting is still as issue. I was using Office 2010 and there was no problem. I am now using Office 365 and this issue is prevalent. It manifests itself when pasting a value from a cell containing a formula and disappears when disabling Live Preview. I was able to copy and paste "normal" cell contents fine before the error message appears so the official response of "another program has locked the clipboard" doesn't really hold up. It looks more like Excel has locked the clipboard from itself.

                                  There…

                                  • allow users to use =avg instead of having to type out the full =average

allow users to use =avg instead of having to type out the full =average. Having to type those four addition characters of has cost me decades of life. Why not? How hard would this be to code?

                                    • Histogram with fitted probability density function

In our data analysis, we frequently draw the histogram and overlay the fitted prob density function (PDF). We use Matlab to create this kind of graphic (to check a Gaussian distribution, for example)
In Excel, it is impossible to combine a histogram with anything else. A histogram (or even a clustered column series) is not compatible with a scattered XY series.

                                      • Excel would be great if it added the "Change Case" drop down menue from Word to Excel

By adding Word's "Change Case" options to Excel it would improve Excel's editing abilities and increase customer productivity adding value to the Excel product

                                        • Scroll by pixel, not by cell.

If you have large cells, scrolling becomes impossible. The page always snaps to the top of a cell. Even if my cells are small enough for me to read them fully, scrolling through them leaves me disoriented and I keep loosing track where I am on the sheet. I see no reason not to scroll by pixel instead of by cell.
