Liegen z.B. Messwerte bei X = 200; 300; 400; 500; 600 vor und wird die Skalierung der X-Achse entsprechend…

• ## Need a "DELETE" function to work in a formula to automatically delete rows when a certain value exists in a cell

I have seen, over the years, NON-automatic methods for this.

I am asking if MS will please develop a new FUNCTION called 'DELETE ROW' that can and will AUTOMATICALLY delete a certain range of rows, if another cell contains a particular value or character.

Everything I have seen that seems to suggest this functionality won't do it.

And myself and about 98% of MS Excel Users no nothing about VBA (if that's the internal complex programmer's language). I am looking for an honest to goodness automatic Delete Row FUNCTION that will delete rows specified in a formula by itself, if…

• ## Do we need 15 decimal places?

Who needs 15 decimal places? The IEEE round off error were users get, say, 12.3 × E-15 when they expect zero just confuses then and undermines their confidence in Excel and in themselves.

I cannot see any one in the finance world needing 15 decimal places.

Few, if any, engineers/scientist work with that sort of precision. Look up physical constants and you will find they are generally known to only 9 significant figures: Planck constant h = 6.626 070 040(81) × 10−34, were (81) is the std dev in the last two decimal places. Albeit some work with atomic masses…

• ## Resizable timeline filter with sliding window

The timeline should be resizable. This means that the actual line of the timeline can get thicker or thinner, and the spacing between time periods should be adjustable.

Also, the timeline should allow the time range width to be fixed but the time range endpoints to change move, giving us a "sliding window". This could implemented by allowing the top or bottom edge of the chosen timeline range to be draggable (left and right are already used for expanding/contracting the range). This suggestion is based on OSIsoft's PI Coresight:

• ## Alternative number systems as formatting (in particular, binary, octal, and hexadecimal)

The main problem with DEC2BIN, DEC2OCT, and DEC2HEX is that they return text. If you want to do an operation on the "numbers" returned by those functions, you have to operate on the original decimal numbers and use the same conversion function on that. It is impossible to work directly in that alternative number system.

Instead, we should just be able to change the appearance of a decimal number through formatting and do our math on that. There can of course be an indicator of the number system as part of the formatting, probably a subscript.

• ## Ribbon XML customUI SuperTooltips - allow custom 'Help' text and links

When specifying Ribbon menu items via customUI XML, there is no way to add custom text and links for the 'help' section at the bottom of SuperTooltips associated with menu items. It would be very useful to be able to specify these, in order for add-ins to appear more professional and integrated.

• ## Allow columns to be un-nested in pivot tables

I use pivot tables extensively for reporting but sometimes I need to report different metrics side by side. For example, count of one column next to row percentage total of another column. It would make life so very much easier if I were able to report different columns next to each other (un-nested), and would make Excel and pivot tables much more competitive as a reporting tool!

(I report on hundreds of entities at once, countif functions are cumbersome and spotty, I risk dropping rows by running successive pivot tables - and my rows are nested so "Show items with…

• ## Change default calculation for pivot table items

When I drag new items into the values section of a pivot table, they always default to the 'Count' calculation. In my work, it's almost always 'Average' that I want though, and I'm left dragging a bunch of items in and changing them one by one in the dropdown. Annoying.

So, I'd ask you to consider adding one or both of the following options:
1. Change the default calculation for newly added items
2. Allow changing of calculation for multiple items at once (this would be particularly good if it let me change all the options for multiple items together)

• ## Daylight savings time

We should have functions that allow for the conversion of non-DST time to DST and vice versa. To determine the location parameter for DST rules, have a map pop up so that you can choose where you are.

To give you an idea of how complicated this can be from a user's perspective, this is the formula that I use to convert non-DST to DST:

A1+TIME(ABS(A1+WEEKDAY(DATE(B1,3,7))-DATE(B1,7,12)-1/12)<=119,0,0)

where A1 holds the datetime and B1 holds YEAR(A1). This is the shortest formula that I've come across/come up with, and it only applies to Canada, and its derivation is difficult. Surely Excel can…

• ## Improve graph creation and customization

When graphing it's a nightmare to make something with error bars or to create a good legend ... etc. Please make it possible to insert a group as a single value for a bar chart. Select the group, ask the chart to display the mean (or median or whatever statistic), and from there ask it to display error bars and so on.

Speaking of error bars, I think it's necessary to add the option of changing the width of the flat caps. Having larger charts is excruciating.

Another problem with the charts is that I can't specify the range easily.…

Thanks for the feedback. We’ll consider this for a future release. Please continue to vote on this feature request which will increase its likelihood of getting in the product.

For your last item, could you provide a sample workbook showing your problem?

• ## Allow multiple attempts when entering a password

When opening a password protected file, if you type it incorrectly, you have to open the file again and type it in. Similarly, if you click to open the file twice, and type the password correctly, the second file will then open, forcing you to type the password again. If you hit cancel on the second file, the first (correctly authenticated) workbook will close.

• ## Add support for Epoch time in Date & Time cell formatting options

I frequently work with data where date and time are represented in the Epoch time-stamp format, or where it is preferable to use this format for scripting purposes. Please add support for Epoch time-stamps so that intermediate processing of time-stamps is not required when importing the data to excel.

• ## Increase/Decrease value of a numeric cell by 1

Increase numeric value of a cell (which does't have formula) by 1 if we press a key ( lets say Alt + right arrow) and decrease the value by 1 if we press another similar key ( lets say Alt + left arrow). As a modeler/data analyst, this feature would be truly great.

• ## Stop automatically expanding column widths when you enter a formula

This seems to be a bug that you can't turn this off. This happens when you enter a formula that produces a value that requires a larger width to display (often as a result of Excel guessing what the format should be, and guesses WRONG). 99.99999% of the time I wanted the column width to stay as was, and with the correct formatting I wanted, the original width is just fine. Because Excel guesses wrong I am punished by having to correct the width AND the formatting!

• ## Insert an image directly from a scanner

In order to insert an image from hardcopy material it is necessary to scan the material to a graphic file and then insert the graphic. It would save time and effort to insert an image directly from a scanner. For example, I scan invoices and cash register receipts from individuals to insert into a voucher for authorization to cut a check for reimbursement to the individual.

• ## Automatic update of text value in textboxes linked to cells and maintain the format of the text in textbox

Textboxes can be linked to cells for values / texts. But, if it is a dynamic connection, in the sense, if the value in the cell changes based on formulae, the textbox takes the first given value. Then, on, even if the cell value changes, the value in the text box does not change in the current scenario. Everytime, we need to press F2 and enter for the formula / datalink in the textbox to get updated. But after that, If we have to manually update the format of the text in the textbox. If both these activities can happen…
