  1. With autosave inplace, how can we continue to retrieve files if we lose the internet again? Hurricane Irma in point.

We lost our electricity (backup generator) and access to the internet during hurricane Irma (Florida). How can we insure we can continue to retrieve needed files with autosave turned on?

  2. Simplify Command Keys in Using Data,Get Data,Launch Query Editor

In Excel 2016, Data, Get Data, Launch Query Editor, the commands are given in the normal way such as Alt+A,R for Refresh All, but are all numbered as Y01,Y02,Y03,Y04 for the top level and then Y01,Y02,Y03 up to Y31. This makes it very cumbersome to work with.

  3. Allow equal key column names in Table.Join (Power Query)

In Table.Join function we can use same key column names for JoinKind.Inner option, but need to use different column names for other join types, like Left Outer, Right Outer etc. This limitation demand to add excessive steps for renaming duplicate columns before join and removing them after join.
As Table.Join is much faster and effective than Table.NestedJoin in complex preparation, this seems to be unnecessary and dilatory limitation and should be removed.

  4. Restore the pasting of tab separated text into columns from an HTML <pre> block and web data feed that has been removed from v16.0.7927.1020

When using data/from web or pasting a table from word or pasting an HTML <pre> block from a web page the tab separated data used to get automatically placed into columns. With v16.0.7927.1020 this has stopped - all the data goes into one column. There remains the option (checked by default) to do this when ingesting data from the web, but it no longer happens. When ingesting data from a web feed, you can't use the "paste as text" option to achieve this effect, so this change in behaviour has effectively broken our application's reporting facility. It still works in…

  7. Restore formula interpretation when using "Get & Transform" wizard

We work with a system that spits out delimited text-files. These files are imported in an Excel template. Some columns in the delimited text-file contain Excel formulas. The good-old “Text Import Wizard” has a “default” type for columns. When using this type, Excel will nicely interpret the formulas. As far as I can see, this is not possible with the new “Get & Transform” wizard.

I know that the old wizard can be reactivated trough “File” –> “Options” –> “Data” –> “From text (legacy)” but hope Microsoft will restore the old behaviour in the new wizard before removing the old…

  8. Update the text to columns window

The text to columns window could use a update something like the query editor but without connections that duplicate the data.

  9. Power Query: Create "switch to advanced editor" in Conditional Column

In the Conditional Column UI, add a way to switch to the standard Custom Column UI for advanced conditions that aren't possible via the basic Condition Column UI.

Currently, if you create a basic if statement when creating column using the "custom column" and then go back to edit it, the "Conditional Column" UI pops up.

I regularly need to add complexity to the column (for example extracting out a length or year when creating a new statement) - and there isn't a way to do so without editing in the formula bar or recreating the column from scratch.

Every merge query and expand operation requires me to untick the option "use existing column name as prefix". Please default it to off

  14. Use Edge Browser For Get Data From Web

Get data from web still uses Internet Explorer. This is insecure, gives out many errors, and doesn't look user-friendly.

  15. Improve Text Import Wizard

Some suggestions for the Text Import Wizard.

When starting text import from a certain row, the previewer in steps 2 and 3 still show the preceding rows.

    Allow resizing the window.

Allow more data formats (all actual data formats available in the main part of Excel).

Add a function to save steps to be batch applied to files.

  16. New Data Source -> Existing Get And Transform Query

I find it common to create a singular Get and Transform query that performs a baseline set of commands that are then split off into various outputs. This creates a cascade of queries which is not particularly challenging via the Advanced Editor.
    "let
    Source = Query_Name
    in
    Source"

As easy as that is, simply needing to access the Advanced Editor immediately many users away from the concept.

Something simple like having the option under "New Query" to select an "Existing Query" would be immensely useful and, I would think, incredibly easy.

The attached file demonstrates this in action. Making it…

  17. ability to update source data through Power Query view

The use cases comes up regularly when working with data sets joined from several sources, e.g. a database and an Excel table. In many useful cases one just needs to carefully bubble the change through a series of joins and filters to figure out which rows to update in the original database table, CSV file, etc.

  18. check the question "IP Address as a datatype." as more would love to have it (including me)

Make a datatype format category for IPv 4 & 6 (12 position and 20 bit IP addresses). Opening csv imports of IP Address lists removes zeros and hence changes the sort order

  19. import multiple txt files

I have a folder with 15 tab delimited .txt files. I want to import and graph 7 of them. The only solutions online suggest merging all files into one .txt, or to plug in a VBA.
This should be more user friendl, like an "import multiple" button, or simply the option to select multiple .txt files on import.

  20. Power Query Sharepoint Dates Don't reflect regional settings

When querying a SharePoint list, it brings dates back as American format and not regionalised. Even though in SharePoint the date settings are set correctly to New Zealand, dates are incorrect. This also happens in Power Query in Excel and PowerBI. They display correctly in SharePoint. The query brings them back as Text, which also fails when converting to dates because our regional format is dd/mm/yyyy so any date like 16/11/2016 fails and gives an error. This makes querying SharePoint not really usable in our region. It also doesn't bring back timezone information.
