  1. Getting Data from another excel file copies the cell format and style

I want to have a separate excel sheet that can get an updated data from another worksheet and also follows the cell format and style.

I can only get an updated data but it won't follow the cell format and style

If I do a copy/paste, I can get the data with the format and style but it won't update any data if there are changes from the other workbook

  2. Add Power BI Dataflows as a data source in "Get & Transform Data"

Please add Power BI Dataflows as a data source so that I can import data from a Dataflow into the local spreadsheet/data model.

  4. Default the Power Query formula bar as on

In the Power Query editor window the formula bar is defaulted as off. This is the first thing I tell people to turn on as it’s key to avoiding unintended errors and future proofing your code.

As Gil Raviv says in his book, “ Enabling the formula bar is fundamental to avoid the pitfalls”

  5. Let me choose Decimal separator and Date order in PowerQuery instead of guessing

When importing textfiles using Get and Transform I always struggle with one thing: I do not know upfront what the decimal separator and date order is of my text file. PQ only offers to choose a Locale, but it does not tell me what date order and syntax, nor which decimal separator belongs to this locale.
I'd love to be able to just choose the relevant separators and date order from a couple of drop-downs. I can almost always see which it is I need from the data, but I hardly ever know which locale belongs to the specific combination…

  6. Link workbook to an Access database to use Excel as front-end GUI.

    Let's be up front...
MS Excel's database functionality is lacking. MS Access' reporting/GUI functionality is severely lacking. Why not create the ability to unite the two?

Excel's worksheet grid UI rocks for data presentation, especially for ease of use. The closest thing in Access to Excel's grid is the data sheet. Well... the data sheet stinks, like a dead carcus. Let's not even get into Access' poor and sorry reporting features - or lack thereof. Because we can create awesome user forms in Excel, how about the ability to create a table in an excel worksheet and link that table…

  7. Add a Reporting Ribbon to Excel to consolidate and highlight the amazing capabilities of Power Query and Power Pivot

Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot and Pivot Tables are amazing tools that will transform the way people build their reports, but only once they know about them!

Let's SHOUT about how good these things are and how well they work together by putting them onto a single new Ribbon called "Reporting" - something like the attached image.

  8. Data types - Please add an option for hiding/unhiding the icon

    Hi there,
I would like to suggest to have an option, working on a workbook level, to hide/unhide the icons for cells having data types.
When, for example, printing a report, there may be no need to print out the icons, as only the information is relevant.
May be it would be possible to have a such option in the page layout tab, like for the gridlines?
    Best,
    Mourad

  9. Power Query Time Stamp of last updated Data

    Hi All,

I import data using Power Query from multiple resources and Lots of time I have seen in Power Query that even though we click on Refresh All still not all tables refreshes the data in Power Query Editor.

So I am looking for feature of option in Power Query that shows last data import date. So that user easily know if all the resources have been updated or not or when it last refreshed ?

  10. Enable Data Import from PDF Files

I will suggest that Excel product team adds From PDF files in the Get & Transform group of the Data tab. This will make life much easier to extract data stored in PDF for further analysis in Excel.

    Thanks

  11. Override default data type classifications

I work with long numeric IDs in excel every day. Opening a .csv with these long numbers, Excel's default behavior is to convert the values to scientific notation, in the process rounding the value so when you redefine the cell to eg, a number, the value it returns is no longer accurate. This is catastrophic in the context of a large number serving as an ID.

The way to work around this is opening every .csv by using the Data -> Get Data -> From File flow correcting data type of the long number columns before opening the file, which…

  13. merge multiple excel workbooks into one

I have say 10 excel workbooks and each workbook has 1 sheet each then is it possible to merge all those excel workbooks into one with 10 sheets? As I am not able to find any such option to the best of my knowledge.

  14. Data types - Please add an option for the icon position

    Hi there,
I would like to suggest to have an option where to place the icon shown in cells having a data type.
Additionally, I would like to suggest for left-to-right reading languages to have the default position of this icon on the right side of the cell.
This would for example allow text to be placed vertically at the same position compared to titles and therefore give a more uniform visualization in e.g. reports.
    Best,
    Mourad

  15. Align MS Project and Excel import and export formats

Importing and exporting between msp and excel is a formatting horrorshow (starting with msp export including timestamps by default). Cleaning the export for updates and comments, let alone aligning the formatting for msp import (no formulas allowed, file must be closed,...) takes too much time. Finally, wizard column IDs should be exactly the same than what user sees in msp columns (ie. Customised longer name). Takes ages to check and/or test that right setup has been configured and stored

  16. LEAVE IT ALONE!!! WHY DO I HAVE TO WORK AROUND ALL YOUR IMPROVEMENTS THAT DO NOT WORK???

QUIT FIXING IT - IT WORKS, I SPEND MORE TIME TRYING TO GET YOUR IMPROVED VERSION TO WORK THAN I DO WORKING PRODUCTIVELY. STOP CHANGING THINGS. THERE IS NO VALUE IN TRYING TO FIND WHERE YOU MOVED A FEATURE OR TRYING TO DEBUG A GOOD FEATURE YOU BROKE.

  17. Why some stocks aren`t available at Office365? Ex. KNRI11, MXRF11, BCRI11

I am using Excel Office365 (Data - Stock) and some stocks available at B3 are not available for Excel Office365 (MXRF11, BCRI11, KNRI11) - a support person from Microsoft told me it is because Excel Database is not updated. Okay, but it doesn`t make sense, how a Stock Listed in Market is not available? Can you guys include/update it?

  20. An easy way to add CSV columns to an existing Power Query

Whether you previously deleted columns and like to bring them back or new versions of the source data have new columns, it's very non user friendly to add such columns (having to go through previous Applied Steps). In the latter case, it might even be impossible.

Please consider making it easy and straightforward like in Text Import where all you have to do is click Edit on the query and run the wizard again.
