  1. Move or Copy

When attempting to copy a worksheet, the menu always says move or copy. Copy should be a separate option within the menu. It's more frequently used and this second step is annoying.

  3. Ability to add simple custom keyboard shortcuts for favourite functions

Ability to add simple custom keyboard shortcuts for favourite functions (eg paste special values only - I would happily sacrifice an F key).

  4. Distinct Value Check Box in Data Validation

Add a check box in the data validation field to automatically remove any duplicate values in a column. Rather building a formula or having the data validation reference a "list column" so that only the unique values are displayed in a drop-down list for data validation you could add a check box that says to only show unique values in the drop-down list. This would make it easier and faster to create dynamic lists without going through a bunch of extra steps to remove the duplicate values.

  5. Change colour of border of column & rows

In Excel 2016 it is not possible to change the border colour of the columns and rows – in previous versions it was easy to see (e.g. if you were in cell e.g. 'F' '100' the edge/border of the appropriate column & row would be in a sharp colour) but now hardly visible as in grey/green colour which can’t be changed.

  6. Automatically recognize unicode CSV file automatically

Currently, to open Unicode encoded CSV file in Excel, you would need to go through cumbersome import process. for example:
    http://smallbusiness.chron.com/open-utf8-excel-63726.html

Just opening the CSV file will cause some characters displayed as garbled.

Please add the functionality for Excel to automatically recognize CSV contains Unicode and display it properly (like Notepad for example).

This is similar as an ask for Excel for Mac:

    https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/304933-excel-for-mac/suggestions/9783765-support-utf-8-for-csv-import-export

  7. Easily exclude blanks from dropdown (Data Validation)

Add an option to Data Validation to exclude blank cells. Currently it involves a laborious workaround. This needs to work for Dynamic Named Ranges.

  8. Fix multiple open workbooks not appearing on taskbar of display where open

    In Windows 10, with:
    - the multiple display setting in the OS set to show buttons on taskbar of the window where the program is open; and
    - the Excel display option set to show all windows in the taskbar,

A single workbook open on the non-main display has a taskbar button on that display. However, upon opening a second workbook, that button disappears and buttons for any and all subsequent open workbooks then appear only on the main taskbar. This continues even if all but one workbook are closed, until Excel is fully closed and reopened.

    Please, please, fix…

  9. Improve Office Help Files

With every generation of Microsoft Office the included Help system gets ridiculously worse, help used to be one of it's strong points. Old versions of Office included fast and comprehensive offline documentation that was incredibly useful and could be searched in seconds. Excel 2013's help was horrendous and Excel 2016 is a disaster. Currently I'm trying to write a VBA function, I enter some code hit F1 hoping for an example and then have to wait 15 seconds for Firefox to open and display a poorly formatted MSDN page, if I then use the MSDN search box to refine my…

  10. Copying Merged cells

in Excel when couple of cells are merged we are unable to copy and paste elsewhere. That will be a good option to have.

  11. Add more options for custom icons. Back to Excel 2003, where you could create and edit icons as you liked.

Bring back internal icon editor / creator as was available in 2003 and back. Very limited on what can be chosen from built in custom icons

  12. Format cell as a radio button (in addition to format cell as a check box)

Create the possibility to make regular cells look and behave like a radio button (that auto-detect adjacent radio buttons). This prevents having to add separate controls in a worksheet and keeps it fully integrated. See file for a working demo.

  13. floating custom toolbar

I need to be able to use a floating custom (mini-)toolbar when working with data. This was possible with previous versions of excel. I do not want to use a macro or vba to do this.

  15. Stop Calculation mode being changed by other workbooks

Its very confusing when you think a workbook is being calculated automatically but suddenly it has switched to manual. This is caused by Excel deciding its calculation mode(Manual or Automatic) from the first workbook opened in any Excel session and ignoring the calculation mode that was saved with the next workbooks opened.

(I suspect that fixing this problem requires Workbook Level Calculation)

  16. Provide function to return "Last Refreshed Date" for external data connections

I don't want to have to click data->connections in Excel in order to see when a data connection was last refreshed. It would be great to provide function to return "Last Refreshed Date" for external data connections. It's a simple thing that would make a lot of people happy.

  17. Allow customised keyboard shortcuts

MS Word has allowed customisation of keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl + Shift + S for Save As) but Excel doesn't. Please address this. Thanks.

  18. Introduction of an Array object to rework the way in which multi-cell array formulas are used.

Tables and pivot tables have revolutionised the way in which data analysis is performed. Change of similar magnitude is needed for building computation-heavy models (financial, engineering etc.)

The array object should be nameable (default Array1 etc.), it should be visible on the worksheet, it should be possible to link it to index rows just as a form control may be linked to a cell.

Any formula inserted into an array object should be treated as an array formula and will automatically be extended to the boundaries of the array object. Any array reference within the formula will automatically take data…

  19. Allow the user to change the size, shape and/or color of the comment indicator.

Allow the user to change the size, shape and/or color of the comment indicator.

The red triangle can sometimes be over looked on a spreadsheet that contains a lot of data. I feel it would be beneficial to allow the user to make the triangle bigger, change it's color, or even change the shape (i.e. make the indicator a rectangle on the right-hand side of the cell).

This would help those comments to really stand out and you could color code which comments apply to which department.

  20. Open Excel on correct screen when using multiple monitors.

As Excel opens, a splash window appears. If this is dragged to a different location (such as another screen). Open the Excel Application there too. It is weird to open in a different place to where it has been dragged. Very unintuitive.
