  1. Active cell or line remain highlited when sheet isn't active.

I work off a spread sheet while using another application. I highlite the cell or line to help me keep my place. The minute I click on another app the highlite goes away. This drives me crazy.

  2. Show selected cells eben when working in another screen.

The cell selection should NOT disappear when the user switches to another window. Nowadays more and mor people in an efficient environment are working with more than one application at the same time.

  4. Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.

Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.
    In English:
Option to show list of sheets sorted by name. Today it's only sorted by index.
When we right click on the navigation arrows (bottom left corner of Excel), Excel shows us a list of the worksheets sorted by index/position in the workbook.

Suggestion: add a checkbox or a combobox to that dialog box, with a couple more options, like the attached image:
    Index Asc
    Index Desc
    A to Z
    Z to A

This is not to move the sheets around, this is to…

  5. Allow Excel / Office customization to make High Contrast themes workable

    Issue:

Excel is unworkable in high contrast themes. Dark black cells with white borders cause more eye strain for someone who needs dark screens but not necessarily high contrast. There is no option for making it another color (e.g. grey) or to show font colors. This issue reported by multiple users since at least 2010.

    Ask:

    Options to fix this issue
    1. Allow excel customization for high contrast / default themes to select a custom background, text, and border color. Allow text and cell colors
    2. Option to exclude selected office application from high contrast windows theme
    3. Insert a…

  6. Add an option to disable research pane

I know this can be done in vba but it would be great to add an option to disable the research pane permanently from the options menu. I've never met anyone that uses it, it only wastes time having to close it.

  7. You should be able to change the colour of the drop down menu when columns are filtered. The change in icon to a down arrow isn't clear enou

When you have column data filtered the drop-down list icon changes from a bar thingy to a down arrow and funnel, this still isn't clear enough particularly if you have a large number of columns filtered. You should be able to change the colour of the drop down so it stands out more.

  8. Quick Access Toolbar needs option to be located at the bottom of the screen just above status bar.

Having quick access at the bottom of the screen is consistent with the quick access for Windows. It's current two positions (above or below ribbon at top of screen) are hardly any different. In word, I need to change view modes and that's on the status bar, but in Office 365 there's three arbitrary choices and it's not customizable. If the Quick Access Toolbar could be docked at the bottom of the screen in Word, it could replace that. Change status bar to only show "status" of view mode. We need to put the view mode shortcuts a user actually…

  9. Dark button indicating columns are filtered (versus the filter icon).

When a column filter is applied, the filter button(s) change to a filter with an super-small down arrow. If you have a large number of columns, and have zoomed out, it is IMPOSSIBLE to quickly scan and see which columns have a filter applied. Simply reverse the button color - if the column is filtered, use black button / white text.

  10. Excel: Add Sub Tabs (or Sub Worksheets) to Worksheets

The best thing you guys could add to Excel are sub-tabs at the bottom of a Worksheet. Example: Main tab might be Canada, and sub-tabs might be London, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, etc. Another main tab might be U.S.A and sub tabs might be New York, Detroit, Houston, etc.

  11. Stack/multi-row worksheet tabs

Make the worksheet tags work like a windows taskbar. It can be dragged larger to allow for multiple rows of tabs.

  12. Scrolling through Worksheet Tabs

In a workbook with many tabs, it would be nice if you could use the scrolling functionality on your mouse to scroll through worksheet tabs quickly instead of clicking on the left/right buttons a bunch of times. This functionality is available in Tableau and I use it all the time in huge workbooks.

  13. Distinguish Focused Row and Column

When I view a row with multiple/many columns, I sometimes find it hard to see which cell in column "T" is of my row.

Suggest to find some sort of way to distinguished the row I'm on from the surrounding rows.
Best option I can think of is giving it some coloring or enlarging the font.

Of course, the coloring/enlarging should take existing coloring/font-pitch.

Suggest this will be an option I can turn off/on for either the row or column, and it has to allow user to choose the color/font.

    Regards,
    Ayal Telem.

  15. More options for Custom Ribbons

When adding a custom ribbon, the best we can do is add groups.

We need a way to edit a custom ribbon's layout better (icon sizing / positioning / stacking / grouping)

  16. Display/List the name of the currently active Custom View

Custom Views are a helpful means of working with a limited portion of the spreadsheets data.
Custom Views could use some improvements:
    1. Provide a way for the user to know which Custom View is currently active.
    a. The name of the Custom View could be displayed in the Status Bar as: Custom View “CustomViewName”.
    b. When necessary or advantageous to save display space, an abbreviation such as the letters “CV” could be displayed. The full-text listing could then be displayed when the (mouse) cursor was hovering over this abbreviated display.
    2. Provide a quick access to changing the current…

  19. Multiple sheet in same window at once

When working in a single file with multiple sheets quite often is required to view / work multiple of them at same time.

But actually there isn't option to arrange all the sheets in the same window.

  20. Comments Panel

I have used Excel Online for a few months now, and even though I think the Desktop version of the software is always going to be preferable, Excel Online Comments Panel would be a very useful tool on the desktop version of it. There are times that I send reports with thousands of comments on them and when you filter/sort columns they get messed up, comment panel section should fix this problem.
