  1. Number format thousand separator and no decimals

    Every time (many days a year) I train people in Excel, someone ask why there is no button or shortcut to obtain a number format with "thousand separator and no decimals". At least - in northern Europe - this is the most common used number format. If "button-solution" not possible for Microsoft in order to have common buttons world-wide, at least a shortcut for this has been much appreciated. (Note that the current button for thousand separator and two decimals could not be used, though the alignment in that format are not disired/good and two decimals used).

    • Add Center Across Selection to the Merge & Center Drop-down

      Do you hate Merged Cells? Do you believe Merged Cells are evil? Do you curse every time your selection rectangle goes from one column to five columns just because you touched a merged cell? Do you constantly get workbooks from co-workers who continue to merge cells? Tired of not being able to Sort or Paste because someone merged a cell?

      Excel encourages people to use Merge & Center by offering it front-and-center on the Home tab. Thus, few people discover the (superior) Center Across Selection option on the Alignment tab of the Format Cells dialog.

      • Custom Format for Brazilian months in capital

        Allow mmm or mmmm custom formats to capitalize first or other letters of the months by using
        Mmm / Mmmm instead or even
        MMM / MMMM

        Specially for portuguese/Brazil. By using custom format, we always have month in lower case.
        We all want to be able to custom format the date and see:
        Jan/2018
        Fev/2019
        Abr/2020
        Out/1979

        But in portuguese, only portuguese, this never happens.

        • Save own Cell Formats

          It seems to me on first sight at least, that a solution to https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/304921-excel-for-windows-desktop-application/suggestions/33545875-number-format-thousand-separator-and-no-decimals would be to be able to add and save own number formats within the "Format Cells" Dialog.

            • Sheet Naming

              If I've named first 3-5 sheets to dates of a month and add more sheets to add in more dates. Can excel automatically know the next sheet should be called the next date? Also a way to ignore weekends/public holidays?

              • Cell padding or margin

                Ability to define a custom padding in the format cells dialog in Excel.

                If I copy and paste a spreadsheet into Word, custom cell margins are available, Excel should include the same option.

                • Shortcut for paste as values

                  90% of the time I want to past as values, so as to keep the formatting consistent in the location I am pasting. Rather than having to right click then select "paste as values" it would be good to have a shortcut to be able to do this instead.

                  • Within a cell, allow user to modify vertical spacing.

                    It would be extremely helpful if I could control the amount of space between lines of text in a cell.

                    • GBP Default settings

                      After purchasing Excel for windows 10, all the templates are in Dollar format and cant be changed.The format needs to have a GBP default currency included in the package as there are a huge amount of UK users.

                      • Independent columns to adjust the rows height differently for each column

                        I use excel to compile weekly reports because the most convenient way to keep track of weekly updates.

                        However, when coming to printing, there is a lot of waste.

                        Basically, my excel sheet is as follows:

                        Columns: brand names, from a to z.

                        Rows: weeks, numerical order

                        So let's say I have Brand A, Brand B and Brand C.
                        Going down in the rows, I have the updates of each brand by week 1, week 2, week 3...

                        Now, for week 1, brand A might have few wording of updates, brand B an entire long paragraph.

                          • autofit column width for data in new columns

                            I would like to have the option to set 'Autofit Column Width' so that data in 'future' columns can change the width of the column.

                              When creating a subtotal it would be great if you could select what the subtotal cell formatting is (i.e. bold, highlighted, top and bottom border, etc.) Also add the option for a blank row after the subtotal.row

                              Both of these option would make it a lot easier to read the spreadsheet!

                              • Time duration

                                Are y'all able to add a time duration cell format to Excel? If y'all have, how do I access it?

                                For example when I enter the mm:ss.00 number "17:18.10" I don't want to see "12:17:18 AM" in the FB. It would make doing calculations with just a time duration a lot easier and simpler.

                                  • Being able to change the date format in the Header/Footer Section of Page Set Up

                                    When I print the spreadsheet I would like the date in the footer to read "January 1, 2018" not "1/1/2018".

                                    • Add a Mouse Over ToolTip proprety to shapes (Used as Control Buttons)

                                      Even if not strictly professional these days, many of us place shapes (not ActiveX) on the Sheets to trigger macros, and get the job done easier.

                                      It would be very helpfull if the shape could show a Text Tip on Mouse Over, showing the purpose of that command button.

                                      You can find workarounds using hyperlinks and/or macros, but it's rather tricky and not a clean solution.

                                        • Let's go back to the future, rather past. Return the ability to manually freeze multiple rows and columns.

                                          Until now, I could manually or using the ribbon to freeze the rows and columns I needed. Now, although your instructions say to select and freeze multiple rows and columns at the same time, it is not working. Why did you remove the ability to manually place the small bars to select and freeze panes.
