Even though I have sharepoint locations set up as a Trusted Locations, Excel will not default to opening those files in Edit mode. I have all of my frequent files pinned, and they all default to read-only mode when I open them. This means many many extra clicks every day as virtually everything I work on is located on sharepoint.4 votes
This would allow one to easily add text to the end of cells without having to create a new formula.2 votes
It would be amazing if there were a button you could click when you had several cells highlighted, that would round them to a user specified number of decimal places. Similar to the =round(A1,2) function, but that would allow you to apply the "round" formula to several cells at once.2 votes
Add to paste special... paste only unique records
When a list is copied and this option selected, then duplicates are removed from the list before pasting.5 votes
Via the Paste Special we can operate on a range of values. However, to do, for instance, a multiplication, we first need to use a cell for it. As an option I would like to see that we can instead add a number to the Paste Special dialog as the attached screen shot shows.49 votes
Want to be able to hyperlink only a section of text in a cell. For example the cell would contain "For more information click here". Would like to make only the word "here" a hot link, not the entire text in the cell.5 votes
In the case of multiple open sheets the commands (CTRL + Z) and (CTRL + Y) work independently of the selected sheet. Perhaps it would be better for each sheet to take account of its own typing.2 votes
Allow users to activate a change recorder for files (password protected to deactivate) that creates a log of changes, with date-time stamps and the users making the changes (similar to macro recorder?). The the log can be saved in the sheet, or sent to a specific location.5 votes
Move all the Protect Sheet options to a separate tab. At the moment, users can find some of the options on the Format tab but they have to go to Format Cells to find "Hidden". It's confusing.
It would also make it a lot clearer if the Lock Cell option had a clearer indication of whether it's on or off.
Users struggle to see if cells are locked or not.4 votes
I have a question? I have this on two computers. When I update on computer why doesn't it sync all computers.
It may be possible but I don't know how. I have excel on two computers. I have the same file. But when I input my expenses on one it doesn't update the other. Is there a way? If not there should be. It is the same account why wouldn't it?1 vote
When using data validation, the user gets an error when entering invalid data, and is forced to change or cancel it. When disabling the error message, the user can enter invalid data and there is no forced change.
It would be helpful if there was an option to turn off the error, but still force the user to change the data in the cell, or automatically cancel and go back to the previous value.1 vote
I would love a hotkey for merging cells as its really tedious when creating large tables to go through the entire document, pressing the button instead of hitting a key instead. Perhaps using the Ctrl function could achieve this?1 vote
I would like to use the * character in a tab name.3 votes
Enable user to enter a value (ideally multiple, too) to jump to an option in cell drop-down list (ALT + DOWN KEY)
When you are in a cell and press ALT + DOWN KEY, Excel will display a list of all of the values in that column. You have to scroll using the vertical scroll ball. It would nice to be able to enter the text that you're looking for and have Excel scroll to those values. Ideally with multiple characters allowed. And if you could uses the mouse scroll wheel (I have a Logitech hyperwheel) that would be beneficial as well.4 votes
the window "Spelling" hides the window "Find and replace", causing a chain reaction of problems (Excel 2016, Windows 10)
PROBLEM # 1:
Spell check is not case sensitive: i.e. if there is a table, in the cells which are proper names written with the error case for the first letter, and the Name includes common words, whose register does not need to change (ie not the version of the formula into 1 cell or macro, because the word is obviously unknown), then when you check the spelling using the same editor (the most suitable in this case, the instrument) the word' are, because not known to the dictionary, but change the first letter from lowercase to uppercase is impossible (!). Only by "Find and replace". Here ...
PROBLEM No. 2:
in Excel 2016 occurs a conflict window "Spelling" and "Find and replace" - at the same time don't work, rather opens the window "Spelling" supersedes (hides) "Find and replace"; in consequence of which you must first copy the original text from the "Spelling" (to avoid the error because a proper name...), close the window "Spelling", go to "Find and replace", paste it in two lines "Find" and "Replace with", then change 1 letter (!), click "Replace all" in the pop-up window (notification to confirm reading the help on the replacement) click "OK" to open the "Spelling" and get ...
PROBLEM No. 3:
- Spelling to start from the beginning (!) range, which contains words that are marked in the previous session as "Skip", i.e. those that must not fall into the main dictionary. That independent was "walking" on cells "Find next" -> "Replace" (not Replace all) or not - i.e., the column selection is not formally moved and visually looks the same as when closing the window "Spelling" test starts first column, because the forced closure of the window "Spelling", which is necessary, causes interfering with the reset session check, in other words the program is not dependent on my will forced to complete the session not in the right place.
So first you have to "prosecute" "Skip" all these words, and only reaching the last changed via the "Find next" Name it finally becomes possible to "add to dictionary" (!) and only after that to continue the spell check - i.e. to continue numerous repetition described above. Solution No. 3 to spoil ...
PROBLEM No. 4:
The "Skip all" button in the "Spelling" does not work (!), works as Skip button, i.e. only in one place and not throughout the selection. And ...
PROBLEM No. 5:
Button "Replace all" in "Spelling" also does not work (!), as in the previous problem works like "Replace" in one place and not throughout the selection.
PROBLEM No. 6:
It is impossible to select the range check if the window is open "Spelling" again to "Close" -> "Ok" > "Highlight the range" -> open "Spelling". Previously, the range could safely be changed without closing the editor window.
PROBLEM No. 7:
It is impossible to change anything on the sheet when you open the window "Spelling", for example to write a note to a cell in the neighboring cell, which was processed by the editor and found where sought, which require tagging to account for further data processing. Previously it was possible.
PROBLEM No. 8:
"Sticky" selection of text in the formula bar: when trying to copy data not from the window "Spelling" and not from the cell and directly from the formula bar periodically uncontrolled capture of unnecessary text, resulting in exceptionally difficult to select.
ISSUE # 9:
A conflict of keyboard shortcuts to quickly open the window "Find and replace" from the keyboard when the window is open "Spelling": Earlier in the Excel window "Find and replace" was caused by pressing Ctrl+h, now the combination is the same for normal operation, but at the time the open window "Spelling" in response to this combination, a list of the "Language dictionary" in the "Spelling" (which you can select with one mouse click from the same window) and not triggered the command to the standard shortcuts, which, when the spell check is very necessary - these two tools are interconnected. Thus the question of priority of demand of the team in this case decided not to help the user, but harm.
ISSUE # 10:
After you add at least 1 word to the dictionary, the operation "Close" Spelling sound (like the denial of the allocation range). Useful when the indicator light is not available, and CapsLock "says" that the register changed, but the repetitiousness of sound on this interfere with the normal operation stage, and with such difficulties "for no reason" extremely unnerving. And then ...
PROBLEM No. 11:
it turns out that the window "Spelling" cannot be closed, one asks "OK" on the "spell Check completed. All right now!" - in principle, the pressing "X" or "Close" - this useless extra click when a large volume of a data model and taking into account the above truly exasperated.
In the case that it is impossible to fix this 1 letter via the "Spelling" window "Find and replace" can and should not close for the early completion of the action, but in Excel 2016 it disappears when you open the window "Spelling", which makes impossible simultaneous work, as it was previously. Are compelled to close-open the window "Spelling", which doesn't appear instantly (probably depends on the amount of data that must also be considered) , and after repeating many earlier made "Skip" and duplicate "Replace" and so-forth.
Thus operation on two clicks right out the window "Spelling" is represented as
HUGE waste of TIME in UNNECESSARY CLICKING and WAITING for the APPEARANCE of WINDOWS.
MOUNTAIN OF STUPID REPLAYS
AND A SEA OF OBSTACLES
12. THE FINISH NOT LINE IS APPROACHING, AND MOVING AWAY:
THE MORE DONE, THE LONGER TO MOVE FORWARD
(reset sessions, with an increase of the number of "Skip ALL")
In previous versions, though there was not a sensitivity to the correction of the register, but at least:
- close the "Spelling" was not necessary;
- session check is not "flew";
- list in case you want to edit;
- and the buttons worked as they are written.
Tell me, this is a global problem or there are ways to solve THIS locally by some settings
including the sound - is it possible to disable only for this window?
1. It would be nice if when you "Find" and "Replace" after changing data is not required to press the "OK" button in response to "Everything is ready. Done replacements: 10" and the number of replacements was reflected somewhere in the window "Find and Replace" explicit attention to the form and place (here and the sound came by the way), because no matter click on "OK" or "X" (close) - the data is already changed and this window does not roll back their practical use in "Okee" no, and the loss of time there.
2. And if more history substitutions you can later view in a structured and customizable way, a standing ovation!
Thank you for your time!

I would like to have a clear option as opposed to delete which leaves all the formatting in tack but gets rid of the data.

In a recent youtube video,
Bill Jelen discussed a way to work with the current dialog to make the Function Arguments dialog support a nested function. Thinking about this, Excel has over the years, made great strides in many many areas but the Insert Function and Function Arguments dialog has stood still.
It could be upgraded to support nested functions - this is 2017 and there must be so many programming techniques to make this work.
It would benefit beginners as well as advanced users and does not interfere / break the existing object model or vba.1 vote
When the Find box in Excel is opened and FindAll is selected, the dialog box is never big enough to show the results. It should either:
1) Expand to the size the user last selected, or
2) Expand to hold all the results if they fit, else expand to 2/3 the screen height.2 votes
Keyboard shortcuts in the Power Query editor window would allow data to be quickly transformed without relying on the mouse. For example, to rename a column without a keyboard shortcut it requires multiple mouse clicks, and when there is a large dataset this can be quite a chore. Shortcuts would be a welcome addition!1 vote
