    • Show Recently Used Folders as the Default for Save As Function

Excel used to default to Recently Used Folders when using the Save As function. Please return that option to the Save As Function.

        • Reopen read-only file with write permissions

There should be an option/button for reopening a file that was opened as Read-Only (either via a Macro or by specifically choosing to open the file as read-only in the 'Open' dialogue box) with read/write permissions.

At the moment all it's shown is an option to Save As.

          • NEVER revert to saved copy when reopening

When I open a file that is already open in Excel (I lose track of which ones I have open), I NEVER want to reopen that file and discard changes. So instead of showing me that irksome dialog box, Excel should simply BRING the already-open file to the front, just like Word does.

It is too much of a pain to search for that file amongst the many windows I have open with similar names, considering how I've already managed to find it in the File Explorer. Excel knows which one I'm looking for, because it knows it's already open.…

            • EXCEL FILE NAMES SHOULD HAVE PRINT SIZE COLOR OPTIONS TO HELP CANTEGORIZE AND LOOK FOR THE NEW FILE WHICH WILL BE REPLACING AN OLD FILE.

By being able to change print font, print size and print color of file names they could be more easily organized. I save documents which are sent as delivery tickets and could color them some color to be waiting on the file to be received as an invoice which will have the same or a similiar name(or maybe not) and will delete one after the other is received. If not received and I do not note it I will not take a deduction and will loose 15% on the deal rather than make anything.
              It would be a help.

              • If Excel is reopened within 30 second of closing, ask if you want to resume where you last were... I occasionally hit the X by mistake.

I sometimes hit the X in the top right corning by mistake and it closes the program instantly if the file is current. This is OK but there should be a timer within Excel that if I reopen the program within one minute of closing it, it give the option to resume where it was closed (with the same workbooks). Simple and powerful.

                • Increase the file path length to more than 218 characters

Incresaing the character count in the file path matching with Excel online would be fitting. Or even more. It seems crazy that Excel can't open a valid file that the filesystem allows. People have been complaining about this since Office 2000. The thread below has over 11 thousand views and there are plenty others. Please fix this.

                  • Add to Excel and all Office Suite applications tabs for each active/open file.

Add to Excel, and all Office Suite applications, tabs for each active/open file. Also, add two levels to close or minimize a document, one for the application and a second for the file, similar to the feature Explorer and most other applications appear to have, however missing from the Office suite applications.

                      • File Tab should default to Open not Info

Please help me understand why the version of Excel prior to the October 2018 update allowed the File tab to default directly to the Open option in the File tab menu, but no longer does in this latest update. Also, the Microsoft Excel version used for the on-line login to Microsoft Office 365 has the File Tab default set to the Open option on the File tab menu. Microsoft needs to change the latest update so the File tab defaults to the Open option and also allow the user to select any other option on that menu to be the…

                        • Stop asking to save changes if nothing has changed

You open and Excel file and look at it for a moment then click Close. Excel pops up a dialog "Want to save your changes?". I didn't change anything! Please stop asking to save changes when nothing has changed. It confuses the user.

This is made worse if I've has that spreadsheet open for a long time and I don't remember if I changed it or not. Or worse, there may be other people working on the same file and if I say "Save", I overwrite their changes.

I heard that this has to do with Excel saving the current…

Please bring Excel back to how it was prior to the 2016 version. Open only one instance of Excel for all spreadsheets. Have one Ribbon for all of them. Open all windows the same size of all others. Make split view work again. Enough of the 1,000 clicks we have to do more each day because of this SDI very bad idea.

I saved a file then found out that I needed some of the information that I had deleted and closed the program. It would have beneficial to me if I could get the old copy back. My suggestion is to make Manage Workbook(under info) able to show last saved places as well as the auto recovery files

                                    • Excel Misinterpreting CSV as SYLK file.

When opening a CSV file in Excel where the first field is "ID", Excel gives a dialog saying the extension does not match the file type (Excel assuming the file type to be SYLK). I have had to make a change to my codebase to change "ID" to "_ID" specifically for users who utilize Excel. I would appreciate a fix ASAP.

                                      • STOP turning the AutoSave back on when users turn it off!

STOP turning the AutoSave back on! AutoSave falsely represents users as updating the file AND creates unnecessary versions. Users turn it off and after Microsoft updates are pushed into the environment - it comes back on. Bad idea!
