  2. Allow Power Query to get parameters from cell values

    With MS Query, I could replace a portion of the SQL code that would be executed with a "parameter" from a cell. I realize this opens up the possibility of code injection, but with proper input validation in Power Query, this should not be an issue. The way parameters are set now in Power Query, there is no way to dynamically get a value from a cell, only to either manually type it in, or get one from another query. There's also no way to pass the manually entered parameter to the SQL code, only to filter on results, which…

  3. Pivot table case sensitive fields

    In Pivot Table field settings let the user choose the option "Case Sensitive", which will separate rows (or columns) that are grouped together because of the way Pivot Table deal with text fields.
    It is most important for Salesforce users that retrieve objects ID's which are case sensitive (in their 15 characters mode).

  4. Combined Slicers

    Having a lot of slicers gets messy and they take up a lot of room. It would be nice if there were an option to have all slicers live in one slicer window, with a dropdown or tabs at the top to select which slicer to view.

  5. Pivot Table Management

    It would be nice to have a way to manage multiple pivot tables similar to the way the name manager works, with a possible error log, in the case of overlapping or missing source data

  6. Refresh All for Pivots and data connections should have a way to set up the order of update

    Refresh All for Pivots and data connections should have a way to set up the order - at least how it progresses from tab to tab, or from top to down on a sheet. Right now, it seems like a black hole on which pivot/tab is getting updated first and which one is last if I have a workbook with 10 tabs and close to 30 pivots and few data connections. I do not see a way to either set an order or find the order in which Refresh All is working.

  7. Allow me to create Pivot Table Items based on values of Columns

    I have a charge number for a project that has the same prefix for all elements in CLIN 000x (0001, 0002, 0003, 0004) and want to do some Grouping on those.

    No problem, I can create groups easily in the Pivot Table. I could create a column in my data. Modifying the data, as we all know, is tiresome.

    Initially, I used the Excel Group feature to Consolidate everything into ChargeNumber2 as a value I could use in my ROWS or COLUMNS. However, I want to do some MATH against that group which doesn't happen because the grouping doesn't actually…

  8. pivot table show details

    If I have to connect some variables from a fact table to a calendar table using inactive relations (via USERELATIONSHIP in powerpivot), when I build an excel pivot table and I want to drill down using "show details" feature, the data is incorrect, because it only takes in consideration the active relation (forcing me to build two calendar tables to keep correct data in "show details" generated sheet).
    How is that possible? Thousand of users around the world uses this feature and it's not acceptable that a powerful and useful tool like Excel doesn't consider that... or am I wrong?

  9. PivotTables should respect Sets order for interspersed Total Columns

    The Sets interface allows the setting of column orders, including interspersing "All" value columns. However, the PivotTable ignores ordering for "All" valued columns and always locates them at the end of the table. If the PivotTables respected this ordering it would greatly increase to user's ability choose how they want their data displayed.

  10. Tooltips support for SSAS Tabular

    Support descriptions which are a saved property in an SSAS Tabular model as tooltips when the user hovers on a field in the Field List. This is the way PowerBI works and would allow model developers to provide explanations of measures or dimensions to users in the field list. In effect, this would allow to Tabular model to be self documenting.

  11. Allow dates to display un-grouped by default

    Make a setting to allow dates to display un-grouped by default. Currently when you add dates to the pivot table fields it creates the quarter, month, year deal and you have to right click and ungroup. I see the usefulness of both ways but ungrouped is used far more by some users.

  13. Remember collapsing state of folders of queries in Power Query

    In the current version all the folders are open when you launch PQ. It would be useful if PQ would remember their stat at the moment of last closing PQ window.

  14. Add the ability to run percentiles in pivot tables

    I see a request already to add the ability to run medians in pivot tables--would love to be able to do this, and also to run other percentiles.

  15. Power Pivot Option in Excel app of Home & Business 2016 version

    I purchased the office home & business 2016 for PC version. The idea was to learn features like power pivot/Power queryl. but to my dismay this version of the excel does not have this feature in built. Isn't this supposed to be a standard feature

  16. Ability to lock moving and resizing of TimeLines

    Currently it is not possible to create a Timeline that can be interacted with by the user, but not moved or resized. For the Slicer, the option "Disable resizing and moving" is available. For the TImeline however, this option is permanently greyed out rendering the method impossible. I've searched for countless of hours and the only responses from Microsoft support have been "That is not possible, sry". It just doesn't make sense that you can do it with Slicers but not with Timelines. Please fix this.

  17. Update the online documentation so it is correct

    The Power query M formula language reference at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerquery-m/power-query-m-reference is misleading.

    It includes a number of functions e.g. Hmtl.Table which if used in a Power Pivot Query cause an error. What the manual does not say is that these can only be used in queries originating in BI not queries originating in Excel.

    I wasted a lot of time wondering why my queries did not work before somebody told me this.

    Please go through the function reference making clear what works with Excel and what does not.

  18. power query load to table auto name tabs with query name

    When you create a query and load to a table, automatically name the tab with the name of the query. This could be a configurable option to check box in either query settings or in the options section.

  19. Pivot Table Overlapping Error

    Please develop the dialogue / call out from simply stating 'A pivot table cannot overlap another pivot table' so that you are actually provided with a sheet and / or cell reference where an overlap is trying to occur.

    If you have a large workbook / multiple sheets with many pivot tables it can be difficult to find the source of an overlap.

  20. Sort Pivot when you have "difference from % value" - this field is so useful to show YOY growth, but you can't then sort high low....

    Currently you get an error message:
    "AutoSort and SutoShow can't be used with custom calculations that use positional references"

    I love Pivots, they really save the day when you don't have good reporting tools/software, but this really drives me crazy - that I can't use the in built Pivot options to add a field showing growth from a previous measure - eg Year or Month, And... sort by descending or ascending...
