  1. In Power Pivot, be able to move highlighted text by clicking and dragging it

In any modern code editor, you can move code around by highlighting it and then clicking and dragging it. This is convenient because it can be done purely using the mouse and it avoids the use of the clipboard. Please bring this capability to Power Pivot.

  2. Show hidden tables in the Manage Measures window

In the Manage Measures window (accessible from Excel's Power Pivot tab), only visible tables appear under the "Table name" dropdown menu. This means that no measure can be moved to a hidden table and no measure that is already in a hidden table can be edited without also moving it to a visible table. Please show all Data Model tables under the "Table name" dropdown menu.

This is an issue only with the tables themselves. Hidden measures and measures in hidden tables appear just fine in the Manage Measures window.

  3. Percentile added to pivot table functions

Please please please add the percentile function to Pivot Tables! I spend spend so much time manually calculating percentiles.

  4. Group all Data Model tables together in the PivotTable/PivotChart Fields pane

Currently, the PivotTable/PivotChart Fields pane is broken up into 2 groups of tables: tables with no visible columns at the top and every other table at the bottom. Please further split these bottom tables into Data Model tables (middle) and tables exclusive to Excel (bottom).

Only Data Model PivotTables and PivotCharts can use multiple tables, and the only tables that are useful in a Data Model PivotTable or PivotChart are those that are already in the Data Model, so they should be grouped together to make it easier to find them.

  5. Be able to access the Field Settings of a Power Pivot table column that is used in the Filters area of a PivotTable or PivotChart

In a PivotTable or PivotChart, the Field Settings are accessible when you click on an Excel table column that is used in the Filters area. However, if the column comes from a Power Pivot table, the Field Settings will be greyed out. The cumbersome workaround is to put the column along the rows or columns of the PivotTable or the legend or axes of the PivotChart, modify the Field Settings, and then drag the column back into the Filters area. This makes no sense and turns something as simple as giving a field a custom name into a chore.

    Please…

  6. In Power Pivot, have an option to restrict filters on a column to a single distinct value

Sometimes, a column is used for specifying a unit (e.g. meters, feet, $, £), specifying a way of calculating (e.g. average, maximum), or some other case where calculations will make sense only when a single value is selected. DAX has functions such as HASONEVALUE and SELECTEDVALUE to accommodate these cases. However, the user is still free to accidentally select multiple values for these columns, which can lead to confusion when nothing calculates.

To help us enforce the intention of such columns, please give us an option in Power Pivot to force a column to be filtered to a single distinct value in…

  7. Allow the direct change in capitalization of PivotTable names

If you try changing the capitalization within a PivotTable name directly, the rename will not count. As a workaround, you must give the PivotTable a new name that differs by more than just capitalization, and then rename the PivotTable again to the desired name. Tables and PivotCharts allow the direct change in the capitalization of their name, which makes PivotTables the odd one out.

  8. Remove redundant buttons on slicers based on the number of distinct values

When a slicer has only 2 values, the Multi-Select button is redundant, since all combinations of selections can be made by selecting a single value or clearing the filter. When a slicer has only 1 value, both the Multi-Select button and the Clear Filter button are redundant, since the filter cannot be changed. In fact, the whole slicer is useless, but that is another story.

Please show the Multi-Select and Clear Filter buttons on slicers only when they are not redundant. This simplifies the user experience, reduces the visual clutter, and gives more room for the slicer's caption.

  9. Expand/collapse entire field by double-clicking on the +/− button

If you want to expand or collapse an entire field in a PivotTable, you need to right-click on a value from that field, hover over Expand/Collapse, and click on Expand/Collapse Entire Field. This feature is great, but it currently requires too much time and effort to execute. The average user won't bother to memorize "this fancy Excel stuff" and will simply declare any spreadsheet that relies on this feature to be too hard to use.

In addition to the current method of expanding/collapsing entire fields, please allow us to expand/collapse entire fields by double-clicking on the +/− buttons. This is much…

  10. slicer red x

FIX SLICER RED X ON FILTER
Since upgrading to Office 365, all my slicers now have red X on the filter button, regardless of any filtering. In 2016, the X turned red only when the slicer was filtered, otherwise it was greyed out. Now, in 365, ALL slicers ALWAYS have a red x. No way of scanning quickly to see which slicers are filtered. They all LOOK like they are filtered, whether they are or not.

  11. Monitor Pivot tables refresh

In case of using slicer, which is controlling several pivot tables that are linked to external source.

The refresh of these tables can take few minutes and sometime some of the tables cannot be refreshed due to different issues.

The idea is to be added some dialog box with the status of the refreshing? For example to show how many tables out of total have been updated in each moment. In that case can be understanded which table cannot be updated and also will be nice to see what is the status of refreshing.

  12. List TREATAS as a DAX function

As SQLBI points out on their DAX Guide page for TREATAS (https://dax.guide/treatas/), TREATAS can be used in Excel but does not appear in the list of functions or in IntelliSense. Please treat TREATAS the same as the other DAX functions that Power Pivot supports.

  13. Allow measures to be reordered in the Diagram View of Power Pivot

Columns can always be reordered either in the data source or in Power Query, unless they are calculated columns. However, measures are created within Power Pivot and can be reordered only by moving them (in any order) to another table and then moving them back in the desired order to the original table. This is a lot of effort for something that could be much simpler. Please allow us to reorder measures through the Diagram View.

Almost as if to tease us, when you drag columns or measures around in the Diagram View, a cursor appears to indicate the insertion point,…

  14. Automatically capitalize DAX functions

In Excel, if you write "=sum(1,2)", it will automatically change to "=SUM(1,2)" when the user is done editing the formula. Please bring this behaviour to Power Pivot as well. It will help avoid inconsistencies in the appearance of the formula and will also give users a consistent experience across the different parts of Excel.

  15. In Power Pivot, wrap column titles across multiple lines

Often, column titles are wider than any value in the column. Currently, we must choose between viewing the full column titles and viewing the table more compactly. To get the best of both worlds, please allow the column titles to wrap across multiple lines. Even if each column were given a limit of 3 lines before its title is cut off with an ellipsis (…), it would make a world of difference in viewing the tables.

  16. In Power Pivot, do not indent wrapped text

In a DAX formula, you can highlight multiple lines and press Tab to add a tab character to the beginning of every line. However, a tab character is also added before text that has wrapped to a new line. Please change this behaviour so that tab characters are added before lines based on explicit line breaks and not based on the number of visual lines in the editor.

  18. Pivot Tables - Change Autofit Column Default

Could the default setting of "Autofit Columns on update" be left blank.

I am sure there are others like me who get frustrated with Pivot Tables changing column sizes automatically when the data is refreshed.

Please change the default setting to be unticked - it must be an easy change - it would save a lot of time for many users.

  19. Include database search functions like AND / OR / NOT in the pivot table search function within the filter section

In databases when searching for key words you can use filters like AND, OR and NOT to refine your search. When using the filter section of a pivot table to search for key words this function is not available which means if you search for the word 'strength' for example but would also like to include 'strong', this must be done in independent searches with no way of knowing which results include both words.

remedying this would make the search function more efficient.

  20. Floating Pivot Tables

Allow Pivot Tables to be an object that appears above the cells (like a PivotChart, or a Power BI matrix).

This way, you could have multiple pivot tables on a dashboard without having to worry about having one overlap the other when the data set grows in size.
