  1. Add versatility to Report Filters for pivot table date fields

Currently, the Autofilter function for spreadsheet tables, when used on a date field, allows for selection by year, month, day, or even prescribed ranges; but Report Filter for pivot tables only allows selection by day. Please add the same date filtering capabilities for pivot table Report Filters as are available with Autofilter.

  2. add to grouped items by dragging items into existing groups

editing a group isn't possible, the user has to ungroup and redo a group if the original one had too many or too few items. How about providing functionality to drag an item into a group, or drag one out of a group, without having to ungroup and redo the whole group.

  3. Improve linking PowerPoint and Excel

Ask any banker, consultant, accountant, project manager, anyone preparing a business plan. They will have two files. A workbook when they run their calcs. And a PowerPoint deck where they will present their analysis. And they will frequently correct or refresh the analysis and then update the PowerPoint deck.

Right now the only thing that remotely looks like a way to link the two is pasting tables as link in PowerPoint. However it is slow, unstable, and have an inconsistent format. And if you want to link a number in the middle of a sentence in a textbox, no luck.

  4. Power Pivot: In the measures editor display tables in the order they are arranged in the data model view

Power Pivot - In the measures editor display the tables in the drop down in the same order that they are arranged in the data model view. This then allows us to have our measure tables at the start and more importantly at the top of the measure editor

  5. Allow to make a pivot table of a table where some columns have no names

When I try to insert a pivot using a big data table as a source it leads to an error sometimes because some columns may come without names. And I start searching for that columns and that wastes my time. That would be great if nameless columns had the same name in pivot as it's native address (like A, B, C... AA, AB, AC... and so on)

  6. Enable all chart types for Microsoft Analysis Services

A great way to keep Microsoft SQL embedded in enterprise accounts is by taking advantage of all of the Excel users out there by giving them real-time access to the data through SSAS. SSAS is a massive differentiator that helps keep out competing solutions like Tableau. PowerBI is obviously the Tableau killer and it's excellent. Of course, Excel is extremely powerful and a vast swath of decision makers don't necessarily want to learn new tools/technology. One of the current limitations with Excel when connecting to Analysis Services is that not all of the chart types are available when working through…

Good feedback. We’ll consider this in our next planning phase.

    Thanks,

  7. All Other line in Top 10 pivots and tables

Give us the ability to add an "all other" line when we select a Top 10 style pivot table or table so the totals are accurate. Many managers are ok with just looking at top 10 customers for example, but want to see the "all other" line so the total sales match.

  8. Data Model Column Search Text Box

The column filter drop-down boxes should have text box search capability just like standard Excel tables, which would alleviate the user from having to scroll and select individual items. Just like with regular Excel tables, this would support cascading filters, so that filters selected in column 1 would then pre-filter the available items in column 2, etc.

  9. Link "Timeline" filters with pivot table [Report] Filters

Link "Timeline" filters with pivot table [Report] Filters similar to how "Slicer" filter and Report filters are joined.

A pivot table can be filtered by timeline but the report filters would indicate (All) date values are present.

This creates an issue when drilling-to-detail of Timeline filtered pivot tables; all data would be output, regardless of timeline selection.

  10. Connect to a Data Model !

It would be massively useful to be able to connect to a Data Model in a workbook from a separate one
So if you were using Power Query one of your data sources could be a data model in a workbook
This would expose all the tables within the Data Model and let you connect to one as your source

  11. Pivot Tables: Enable to add parallel across fields, independent of the upper field.

the posibility to add columns tags in pivot tables but as a parallel column and not under a tag. This means that if you have year field over value, the table will show the value for every single year, but if you add a parallel field of a nother value, it will not whow it for every year but just beside it for a given year or parameter established. Hope i made my self clear because is a funcionality i have to use almost every day in my work and i have to do other complicated strategy to achieve the…

  12. PowerPivot Drill-down details format

When double-clicking on PowerPivot, export the data in the format on the data model. It is a big pain to have numbers and dates exported as text.

  13. Include Median in Pivot Table Value Field Settings

Current summarization options include count, sum, average, min, max, etc., but median is not available.

  14. Fiscal years and PivotTables

It should be easier to display months in their proper fiscal year order, with a user defined starting or ending month, rather than only in calendar year order.

  15. Apply slicer criteria to drill-to-detail output

Apply filter criteria entered via slicer to the drill-to-detail output from a pivot table.

Unless a "sliced" field also exists within the corresponding pivot table, filters applied via slicer do not carry over to drill-to-detail. Confusing for dashboard users and cumbersome and silly to create work arounds.

    Thank you.

  16. PivotTable-able crosstab data entry

PivotTables and data entry butt heads with each other.

Data is easiest to enter in a crosstab format (headings on rows and columns). The row and column headings eliminate having to specify them for each value.

For example, a fuel price table:

    .........Canada..................................USA....................................
    .........Diesel...Gasoline...Propane...Diesel...Gasoline...Propane
    2012
    2013
    2014

If I want to specify $50 as the Canadian diesel price for 2013, I enter "$50" at the intersection of the correct headings.

However, to be able to use PivotTables, the data must be moved to "record" format (no row headings, only column (field) headings, and a lot of repeated information). This is…

  17. Relative path in Pivot Table source

Pivot Tables store the full absolute path to their source even if a relative path is specifically given. Please allow for the usage of relative paths. This is very useful for mainly 2 use cases: 1) Work on shared files stored on servers across remote teams (different person = different "My Documents" absolute path). 2) Making templates with prepared Pivot Tables.

    Please!!!

  18. Allow the pivottable to not aggregate data (e.g. show values)

I need to create a matrix in Excel that doesn't aggregate (e.g. Sum/Count) values. The question of how to do this has been asked dozens of times online over the last couple of years, but still there is no solution. Can Excel therefore produce a plain matrix, or allow pivottables to output plain (unmodified) values from the data field list?

  19. Enable the Time Level functionality of the Timeline Slicer for Locked Worksheets

Whenever you lock the worksheet the Time Level functionality of the Timeline Slicer is no longer an option to use. As a developer this negates the ability of having controls in place so that the end users do not alter the document.

  20. Auto Refresh Data for Pivot Tables

I was there was an option to auto refresh pivot tables when data is changed in the referencing data table. I am trying to move massive tabular spreadsheets which rely on cross linking formulas across several worksheets to data tables which leverage pivot tables to produce the data. The data in the data tables can change very frequently and my team need to see the totals (pivot tables) in real time. The only way to do this right now is with VBA macros which isnt reliable it seems.
